“DecUcattoK DR. B. T. RAINEY To you, Dr. Rainey, we affectionately dedicate this 1958 edition of The Vistan. You have ministered to us and our families for forty years. No weather has been too inclement and no roads too muddy for you to answer our call when we needed you. You brought half the membership of our club into the world. You have sometimes made us feel better by merely sitting in the room. The Betas want you to know that we appreciate your full life of service and unselfish devotion to our community. MR. GEORGE McGLAUN And to you, Mr. McGlaun, we dedicate this 1958 edition of The Vistan. Your quiet, unassuming manner has commanded our love and respect. Your firm, Christian character has helped mold us, not only into better ball players and students, but also into better citizens. We shall always be inspired by your kind, friendly advice and the spirit of camaraderie which prevailed in your relations with us. On a hill in western Georgia Wind thy corridors. Boys and girls of Marion County Sing with joyful voice. Chorus: Marion County, Alma Mater, As the years go by We will love and do thee honor, Marion County High. Days of friendship and of study Days and nights of play. Memories we'll ever cherish Wander where we may. «JM Sctfr U Ue tde tt MR. ARTHUR J. You are to be commended for your loyalty, perseverance and determination. These three attributes have carried you thus far and I wish you Godspeed on through the years. Go forth now into the world and make use of your educa- tion to the best of your ability. May I say that I know that you, with your high ideals and moral standards, will be a credit to your parents, your school, your community, and to your nation. FROM THE PRINCIPAL It has been said that The half of knowledge is to know where to seek it. ’’ We sincerely hope that you have gained that skill during your years at M. C. H. S. All of you face a complex world as you leave this institution. Our prayer is that we have helped you in some small way to cope with this situation. The best wishes of the faculty follow you always. Ca).c.. zrftk t6e ScKCOX (plaAA '5% As we, the Seniors of 58, are preparing for our graduation our thoughts turn backward to many things we have done and the friendships we have shared during our school years. We have sixteen members in our class who began school in 1946 in one of the Marion County Schools, Buena Vista, Brantley, Draneville, or Tazewell. Since the schools were consolidated from the seventh grade up, these sixteen members have been together at Marion County High School for five years. We feel that this fact gives our class a special kind of unity. Our class has been well represented in all school activities during our four years of high school. Juanita Welch, Pat Hall, Gayle Youngblood, Carolyn Watts, Dorothy Good- roe, and Joanna Owens have made a great contribution to our girls’ basketball team. Stout McMickle and Roland Jordan have done the same for the boys' team. Emily Taylor, Edith French, Gayle McCorkle, Wayne Jernigan, Juanita McCorkle, and Mary Joyce McMickle have served as cheerleaders. Our class has also had Judy Goodroe, Mary Joyce McMickle, Ralph Wells, Dorothy Goodroe, Pat Hall, Gayle McCorkle, and Emily Tay- lor in the band. Judy Goodroe and Mary Joyce McMickle have been majorettes for the last two years. We have had many participants in F. F. A., F. H. A., Business Club, Library Club, and other school organizations. Some of the outstanding moments during our high school years for individual members as well as for the entire class have been: our winning first place in the Field Day when we were Juniors, Stout McMickle’s and Mary Helms' being crowned King and Queen of the Halloween Carnival during our Sophomore year, Pauline Dobbs' being crowned Miss F. H A. '' in our Junior year, Stout McMickle's winning first place in boys' typing in the district contest in our Junior year, Judy Goodroe's superior rating in her French Horn solo at the Music Festival during our Junior year, the initiation of sixteen of our class members into the Beta club during our Junior and Senior years. The crowning achievement of our Junior year was the Prom-Dance at which we entertained the Seniors. We thought the beautiful underwater scene of King Neptune's Court was outstanding. Our projects dur- ing our Senior year have been mostly pecuniary, but have been conducted successfully under the supervision of our sponsor, Mr. B. G. Moores. The honors, if any, are still un- announced as the annual goes to press. Our school years have meant much to us. We should sincerely like to thank all the friends, parents, and faculty who have helped to make these memories what they are.
