GUSTAVE ANGLIN HEADMASTER . Ghee tear stint 0 RS ct em ky Sy a saan pe iaey Se 4 Liisi = ‘. : 4 é . : 7 Bee eC a tlie WRisariissitinliat an BOA Seeman Se ees Dear Seniors: | want to extend my most sincere congratulations to the Class of 1980. Your group is the school’s second graduating class, and it has the distinction of being the first class containing students who have completed four full years of high school at the Umana. Your graduation is truly a milestone. You face this coming decade in the midst of national and international turmoil. During the next few years you will encounter problems of rising prices, fewer jobs, and energy and fuel shortages. As a result of crises in other parts of the world we all must face the serious threat of armed conflict. Men and women alike must now face the real possibility of spending time in the armed services in the defense of your county. You must be prepared to handle serious challenges as adults as soon as you graduate. You have shown yourselves to be potential leaders and pioneers of considerable strength. You came to this new school with an unusual curriculum that was located in a section of the city most of you had never seen. You were willing to gamble on these new ideas and were willing to leave familiar schools with old traditions. Since that time you have learned to study and work with people of different backgrounds, some born in different countries than yourselves. You have shown patience, perseverence and maturity during this experience. You are the students who, in four years, have made this school one of the best in the City of Boston, one that has already gained national recognition. You have much to be proud of. During the past four years you have had to travel a very difficult road to reach your destination. You experienced victory as well as suffered defeat, but the final outcome was success. The immediate future will be just as difficult. You must be determined to meet all challenges head on. This will give you the inner strength to continue to strive for excellence in all your future endeavors. Again, | want to extend congratulations and wish much success to the Class of 1980. GUSTAVE A. ANGLIN
