We must be able to adapt to, and stand up s against new problems in everyday life as we encounter them. We must solve s these problems with the knowledge and energies which we have spent our is ry early formative years procuring. Hy H Of course, not many people are born with an understanding of applied iH mathematics to appease the tax man while still having money left for a few HH luxuries. And few possess a great enough english background to form the HS if 4 vocabulary needed to talk down that know-it-all neighbor. No, these things must be taught to us. That is where high school becomes a part of our lives. Yes high school, that grinding, grueling four years which starts at the fresh- man stage and culminates in the climax we all look forward to; the Senior year. High school, a program to prepare us for life in the real world. High school is the “Senior Machine’, an impossible contraption of gears, cogwheels and motors constructed to make us better adults. DEDICATION CHARLES JOSEPH The 1980 Senior Class of Mario Umana Harbor School of Science and Technology wishes to dedicate this yearbook to one of its own. Due to a serious car accident last summer, Charles Joseph was hospitalized and unable to complete his classes at the Umana. Regardless, via hospital bed, Charles continued his studies and through hard work and determination will be able to graduate in person with his friends and peers. In acknowledgment of his perserverence, courage, and desire to succeed, we, the fellow classmates of Charles Joseph dedicate this yearbook to him. Though you were not in our classes, you were in our hearts. The Mario Umana Harbor School of Science and Technology opened its doors to students in September of 1976. This graduating class is the first to complete the total high school cirruculum, grades 9-12.
