De Chambeau display their a ,X weeks period, talent in radio skit work Social Studies The Social Studies Department of Marinette High School, offers a wide selection of classes: World History, American History, Geography, Citizenship, and Social Problems. In the study of American History, our students gain a knowledge of the world around them, from both a geo- graphical and critical standpoint. Also of equal importance, is the study of our nations government and its comparison to governments of other countries. ' The whereabouts of near and tar places, along with the observation of the various climates are included in the studies of our Geography classes. The major activity of the World History classes is tracing the development of the world from the beginning of time to 1953. The actions and interactions of political forces which shape the development of mankind to the 20th century. The functions of all the various types of government and the duties of a good citizen are summed up in our Citizenship studies. ln addition to this, they keep the second floor bulletin board posted with current news. ln Social Problems, an elective course in Marinette High School, the students study crime, marriage, divorce, family problems, and an endless number of social and economic complexities. , Miss Baimu helps J. Hanson with questions about Arrowsmith while .l. Krueger looks on. 9

Olson prepare a devils lood cake with the use of the new kitchen equipment, Home Economics Marinette High School has one of the finest Home Economics, courses taught in this country. A wide variety of homemakings are taught, among them being sewing, cooking, baby-care, and the nutritive value of food. After the students have learned many impor- tant sewing and cooking habits, they turn out fashionable clothes of the latest styles, and foods that are tempting to all. The new modern kitchens that were installed this year, not only add to the beautiful appear- ance of the room, but also make the cooking conditions much more convenient. This new equip- ment will be a reminder to our future house- wives of what they learned in this course. M. Larson, J. Goldsmith and V. Kuliclr prepare the frosting for the devils food cake
