' an it We Want a Touchdown! FOOTBALL With outstanding blocking and tackling by our line, our f'Marine backfield easily scored five touchdowns to Fond du Lac's one. The Marines scored in the air by passes from Parish to Girard, Parish to Surk, and Girard to LaFrombois. Parish and Johnson scored on running plays for two other touch- downs. Fond du Lac passed for a touchdown in the final period. It was a 33 to 7 victory for our Marines and a victory that made the coaches see that the 1946 football season wouldn't be to tough for the Marines With 5,000 fans to watch them, our Marine gridders trounced the Antigo Robins 39 to 0. The first pass of the game, Parish to Girard, paid off with a touchdown. Then Girard scored on a run inside end. Before the half Parish threw to Surk for another touchdown. In the final half, both Girard and Kamps scored touchdowns by running. Girard helped to make the last tally by passing to Krueger. A rain-soaked football field didn't seem to prevent our gallant Marines from over- turning a strong Watertown ll 19 to 7. It wasn't until just before the half ended that Johnson tore through the Waterown line for thirty yards and then threw a lateral to Parish who went on to score our first touch- down. In the second half, Parish fought his way through the Watertown line for six yards and a touchdown. Watertown scored their lone touchdown on a pass. The Marines then came back to help Parish break lose on a touchdown run for the final score. With Frosty Parish paving the way, the Marines turned back the Eau Claire team 25 to 0 for our fourth straight win of the season. Parish powered his Way over the Eau Claire goal line twice and Johnson made a twenty vard run around end as well as passing to Girard for a touchdown. Bob Johnson and John Gucwa played an outstanding game in the forward wall as they were constantly har issing the Eau Claire backfield. With Johnson running fifty-five yards for a touchdown and Parish running forty-one yards for another thriller, it was the Marines,' all the way as they romped over Stevens Point 27 to 6. Johnson passed to Surk for the first tally of the game. Then Parish cut loose Page Fifty-Eight ...un ' q .--assay, through the center of the line for a long forty yard run. Then came Johnsons turn to take the ball. On a punt re- turn he raced through the whole Stevens Point team in a fifty-five yard touchdown run. Our final score was made by Par- ish on a line plunge. Stev- ens Point scored late in the last quarter. It was with much dif- ficulty that we managed to win over a deter- mined aggregation of Norway 'tVikings in a close l9 to 6 Victory. Johnson passed to Pat Dionne in the end zone for the first score of the game. Next. Parish plunged his Way across for the next marker and added a perfect place- ment to make it 13 to 0. In the second half, Nor- way scored their lone ,,Monk., Tak a Rom score on a line play. e P Our final score was made by Glenn Johnson as he crashed over the goaline to end the scoring for the game and put on ice our sixth straight win.
