DEA OF ACA DEMICS w llllll I Frank S. Meredith is the new Dean of Academics for the Marine Military Academy. The former U. S. Navy Commander was assigned to the l955-56 Antarctic Expedition with admiral Richard E. Byrd. The retired officer has 28 years of active and inactive service. Most recently, he served as guidance counselor at the Woodlawn Middle School Complex in Munhall. Penn. He is a former classroom teach- er of French and English in the Munhall district. He is the past president of the Steel Valley Education Association and past presi- dent of the Parents Association, Winchester-Thurston School l975-76. Meredith graduated from Bucknell University in I953 with a B.A. Degree in Political Science. He earned his Masters of Education in Secondary Administration in l963 from Duquesne. ACADEMIC STAFF Mr. Steve A. Gilmore is our new College Admissions Counselor. science teacher. and soccer coach. Born in Athens, Georgia on September ll, I948, he traveled with his parents in the military. He has lived in Georgia, North Carolina, and California. Mr. Gilmore attended grades 9th - I lth at Samuel Ayer High School in Milpitas, Cali- fornia. He then moved to Haverlock, North Carolina, where he finished high school at Haverlock High School in l966. I966. After attending North Georgia College and graduating with a B.S. in Accounting in l970, he entered the U.S. Army as a 2nd Lt. in Air Defense Artillery. He left the signed as Platoon Leader. He was also Bat- tery Executive Officer of a Vulcan!Chap- peral Air Defense Battery. Mr. Gilmore be- came a teacher and soccer coach at Stan- ford Naval Academy in Stanford, Florida. in October of I973. ln July of I976, he attended the United States Soccer Feder- ation National Coaching School in Bowl- ing Green, Ohio, where he attained a C license. ln l976, he left Stanford to be- come a teacher and soccer coach at Flor- ida Central Academy in Sorrento, Florida. ln I98O he left Sorrento to attend the Uni- versity of Central Florida in Orlando for one year, before coming to M.M.A. ,. g' Mrs. Fern Ovenden, Attendance Secretary.
