www Aerospace Science The Aerospace Science program teaches cadets the principles of flight, both in theory and in practical application. Initiated in 1967, it is a popular course with the first and second classmen. The ground school is taught by Major Lewis, while Major Sundin is the flight instructor. At the completion of the course successful cadets earn their private pilot's licenses and Civil Air Patrol Wings. icciaassca,a n l 3.

Mr. james P. Akin Mr. Akin, B.S., Texas A 81 M University, M.S., Texas A 8a I University, has been with the Academy since its inception in 1965. Mr. Akin was the head coach of all major varsity sports at the Academy until he retired from coaching last year. He has taught in secondary schools for nine years and presently teaches 7th and 8th grade science and biology. Mr. Hockaday, BS., MS., University of Texas, has attended Texas A Sc M, Texas A K I University, Immaculate Heart College and St. Mary's University. He has received honor and merit scholarships from the National Science Foundation and the Physical Science Study Committee. Three of his thirteen years of experience have been spent teaching chemistry and postgraduate science and mathematics at the Academy. Mr, Richard Hockaday

ffaafzfp, Histor Mr. Dickinson, A.B., Jacksonville State College, M.A., University of Alabama, is a member of many historical and forensic societies and has garnered many academic honors. He came to the Academy in 1968 to teach American History and English and was the Faculty Advisor to the Annual Staff last year. Mr. James L. Dickinson Major Lewis, USMC QRetj, B.A., Pan American College, M.A., Texas A 8: I University, joined the Academy in 1967 to teach World and Latin American History. A Marine aviator in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, he instructs the Ground School portion of Aerospace Science. Major Lewis also coaches Jr. Varsity football and tennis. ,ARRL Major Claude H.
