Coach Morton came to the Marine Military Academy from Catholic High School in Memphis, Tennessee, where he was a USMC JROTC instructor and head football coach. His Catholic High School team had a record of 8-1-1 and was rated lst in the state early in the season. Coach Morton has coached high school football for 4 years with the fantastic record of 25-6-2. Coach Morton played and coached service football for fifteen years in the Marines. He has played on many of the Marine teams and some Navy teams. In 1964 he was player-coach for the San Diego Marines when they were all-service champs. Coach Morton has played with and coached many players in the service who are now playing professional football. He is an able coach and the Marine Military Academy is fortunate to have him. In addition to serving as head football coach, Gunnery Sergeant Morton was also head basketball and track coach for the -1969-70 year. II8

This was the first year the Marine Military Academy had a Physical Fitness Team. The team competed in one meet in which they placed first, far above their nearest competition. It is hoped that in the future the Academy can field a Physical Fitness Team which can go to Washington to compete in the national competition.
