This was the first year the Marine Military Academy fielded a junior varsity football team. Coach Lewis, with the able assistance of Doc Anderson, fashioned a fighting team from promising underclassmen, who, otherwise, might not have had a chance to play football, The season's highlight was undoubtedly the game in which the Marines shut out the Santa Rosa Junior Varsity by a score of 8-0. This was the Marine Mili- tary Academy's first game on its own home field and the game ball has been preserved to mark the occasion. The players learned much and gained valuable experi- ence. Next year's varsity squad will be made up of many of this year's team and the Academy's football future will be strengthened by junior varsity football. I07

Basketball 69- O Although this year's basketball season did not equal last year's record of 21-O, the players gained much valuable experience. The basketball season ended with a 7 win, 13 loss record. The Leathernecks played hard at all times and managed to place third in the San Perlita tournament early in the season. Also, one Marine player, co-captain Mike johnson, was chosen as the most valuable player on the all-tournament team. The leading scorer was Mike johnson with an average of 17 points per game, closely followed by Aaron Davis, with an average of 16.4 points per game. Mike Johnson was also leading rebounder with an average of 17 rebounds per game. Varsity vs. Faculty
