This tradition originated e a ri ition in the U. S. Marine The Academy's first Mess Night was held this year to formalize the Awards Ban- quet. Traditionally, the dinner is of roast beef followed by appropriate toasts made to the countries and their armed forces represented at the Messg remarks by the guests of the messg and general festivities. General Hurst, as President of the Mess, made some introductory remarks and then turned the presentation of awards over to the Dean of Faculty. The dinner was a tremendous success. It marked a stepping stone in the estab- lishment of tradition at the Academy and contributed to the social education of each cadet.
