Viking Carnpu-s -1 The anchor was a gift from the Navy. How many times during the school year were you able to see the bowl this empty? The Marina campus had much going on this year. A new roof was put on, the air-conditioning worked for a few days, the school was painted, grass was planted around the bowl, and many other improvements and undertakings went on as well. Nobody can say this year on campus was not unusual. Remem- ber the clean campus- short Friday idea? No? Well, what about the classrooms being continuously flooded every other month? Still say it was the same thing as the year before. Well if you do, then you must not remember the three fires at the beginning of the year. Also toward the beginning of the school year, we were known as the school without a principal. Around Christmas however one was appointed and normalcy returned to Marina. Life on campus ran smoothly this year. Hardly any freshman found either his books or themself in a trashcan, and trashcan burning also seemed to disappear. Academics were a little tougher this year and they started having College English for all classes, freshmen thru seniors. All-in-all this year ran well, and everyone seemed to like the outcome. The corridors at Marina, kept very Clean this year, were a good place to see if the clean campus idea worked. Opening 3 Q - 1 - K I

i 1 l 1 i 1 3 l viking Port Of can Huntington Beach- The Viking Port of Call. Huntington Beach is the home of many inter- esting and different things. The OP PRO Surfing Contest, the controversial Bolsa Chica Marshlands, and the small airport named Meadowlark just to name a few. Residents of this great city may be seen surfing at the cliffs, running for the birds, or riding their bikes around Central Park on any given day. Huntington Beach has got to be one of the most versatile cities in the world. No matter how old you are, city planners have activities, of one sort or another, that you may participate in with others. Huntington Beach is also becoming more popular to non-residents. People from all the world were seen flocking to our beautiful beaches, and relaxing in the soft white sands over the summer. ln the winter however the non-residents travel down to Huntington Har' bour to see the spectacle of lights they call a boat parade, This year will probably be the last time you see good old Huntington Beach before Main Street gets renovated, Pacific Coast Highway becomes cobblestone, and the famed pier gets widened and reenforced. Yes, Huntington Beach is definitely an in- teresting town, and with all the improve' ments, after this year it will be a different town all together. Paintings of familiar scenes, like this Beach City painting, are common on the seawalls of HB. Across from the pier, surf shops, bars, and cheap apartments seem to appear everywhere. A pelican statue on a pillar represents the Seacliff Shopping Mall. -armavfffv-if-u.,-..., i. , .7 5 4 Opening
