Text from Pages 1 - 120 of the 1958 volume:

,fr There is indeed a wonderful appropriateness in this comparison of Mary to a star, berause as a star sends out its rays without detriment to itself, so did the Virgin bring forth her Child without injury to her integrity. And as the ray emitted does not diminish the brightness of the star, so neither did the Child born of her tarnish the beauty of Mary's virginity. She is therefore that glorious star, whifh, according to prophery, arose out of lamb, whose ray illumines the entire earth, whose splendor shines out fonspicuously in heaven and reathes even unto hell . . . -St. Bernard of Clairz-'aux , , x e X s'm,'f:.f: ,' at '-fwgijq,-.11 . .' :neg ' . The school, spilled gently at its foot, is almost empty now. The corridors hetween the plain white huildin gs are quiet. In a chapel that is lit dimly hy a few flickering candles, the foothall team is praying to their Mother for success. Four industrious girls are in the auditorium putting the final touches to the colorful decorations for the 61!67Iillg,5 dance. A crew of hoys is preparing the long green field for Saturday's game. The cool, crisp air tingles with excitement. This is MARIN CATHOLIC. As night falls across this picturesque setting, the evening star shines hrighter. The school is deserted now. Bathed in the white radiance, it appears almost luminous. It is a quiet. heauti ful sight, and a fttin g Shrine to Mary, to the Mother, to the Star of the Nfountain - to the MON TISTELLA. And it is the work of the teachers in my student life to be His instruments in bringing His Word to me. In this role of shaping not only mind, but body and soul, there is a vast and never-ending task. My teachers' work for me is long and hard, but it is their dedication and self-sacrifice that reaps eternal reward. Laus tibi, Christe. In the tiny white Host, raised high in the hands of the priest, we are all united in Him. It is hard to realize that all my activities are bound up in Him, that the Sodality or Pep club or Speech class are His as much as - and even more than - mine. I will have to be conscious of it, that all I do is done, With Him and through Him and in Him, now and forever. Amen. l tudent Bod Representatives The Student Council is the co-ordinating hody of all school activities.
