Freshman Class Candidates Elizabeth Hipsher and Bobby McEntyre Mrs. Swain crowns Charles Aycock King of the Ball while Prilla adjusts Chloe Kimel's crown. Hearts, lace, Music The suspense was terrible. This was the night of the Valentine Ball. I could hardly wait to see who the winners would be. As I leaned forward, all at once a deafening cheer went up around me as Charles and Chloe came down the stage to be crowned King and Queen of Hearts. Everybody was smiling, even the losers, and I felt so happy I could bust! Mrs. Swain crowned the winners, and the Grand March began. l'd never seen so many people having so much fun. Finally the gala affair was over and its memories along with the hearts, lace, and music were put away for next year's Valentine Ball.
