Q Alpha sigma Phi delta 3 Delta Chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi had an eventful year. We started the year off with one of the most memorable Derby Days ever. The Sigma Kappa's were honored by a party for collecting the most derbies. Homecoming was highlighted by a reception at the chapter house for alums from as far away as Texas, Delaware and New Jersey. We then had a party to celebrate the end of the football season with the entire football team as special guests. The end of the semester featured a Christmas party, followed by caroling. The 1976 Pledge Formal highlighted second semester with twenty-seven new actives being paddled, along with pledge trainers Eric Blahnik and Jeff Heck. The local alumni were invited back to celebrate April FooI's Day with a fish fry. The second annual pool marathon for the American Cancer Society was also held second semester. The end of the year was then celebrated with a party at which an outstanding senior class was honored. Contributed by Jeff Welch 91 'T--., 'QL AQ- Ri X xi -M '--H,-as-gif gi . Al- ter fall rush we welcomed sixteen new pledges. During Oc- tober we were also busy preparing for homecoming serenadesg this year we presented Donna Murphy in The Wiz . During November we celebrated our 76th anniversary and were visited by our district president, Miss Beth James. The annual pledge formal, A Time For Us , was held February 14 at the Marietta Country Club. As social service projects, the AST's sponsored a Valen- tine's party for the children of the Friendship School, and also sponsored two swimmers in the Marietta Jayceettes' Swimathon. AST Jean Packard was our representative in the Dance Marathon and won second place, totaling S281 in contributions. AST's are involved in many campus activities. Sue Thorpe and Judy Page were elected SBEB representatives for 1976- 77, both for their second year. Other AST's are involved in many campus activities, including student government and campus publications. 92 5 lf 1 V: ?. -V - . ' .ii-1. 1. Debbie Allen 2. Ann Dorfman 3. Sue Cisar 4. Mary Miller 5. Rush enabled our member- ship to grow with the addition of fourteen fantastic pledges. Homecoming was the high- light of the semester when our serenade Anything Goes was awarded first place. The skit, directed by Cynthia Adams, featured Shelley May and the rest of the talented AZ's. Although many social gatherings were held with the fraternities, we managed to gain recognition for scholastic ability by winning the Most Improved Scholarship plate. Second semester included such activities as a balloon sale tor the Heart Fund, a visit from our Province Collegiate Director, and the pledging of four more sisters. On Febru- ary 21, our annual Pledge Formal was held at the Marietta Country Club, and turned out to be quite unique . Six sisters endured the full twenty-four hours in the second annual IFC Dance Marathon. The AZ's sang Put On a Happy Face at the Greek Sing and at the picnic won the beer chug contest and relay races. To top off a successful year, a Beer Blast and Barbecue was held at Saida Nation- al Park, where a good time was had by all. We hope that future years will be as re- warding as this one in the sisterhood of our fraternity. Contributed by Linda Terhune 97 as we 'ik ? Delta Tau Delta . Mead epsilon upsllon 1. We began the year with our traditional first all- campus party and were placed on social probation for our efforts. We continued the partying spirit at two more open house parties, including one on Band-O-Rama Day. We had a very successful rush program and are happy to say that we have fifteen great new brothers. The TEPs were very active in student government with six members holding position on SBEB, including vice presi- dent. We have also seen several brothers participate in all concert set-ups and many art exhibits. As for community projects, we once again sold light bulbs for the Friendship School, and we were active in the Red Cross Telethon in the spring. We had one representative in the Dance Marathon and are proud to say he lasted the entire twenty-four hours, and came in fourth for total funds donated to the Heart Fund. We held our annual Pledge Formal on Valentine's Day for our members, alumni and guests. We are planning to redecorate our living room and we're looking for- ward to an even better year in 1976-77. Our fall rush program was very successful, yielding 21 pledges. In the campus-wide Miller pick 'em up contest we finished first last year and second first semester, helping Marietta Col- lege to a first place finish in the national contest. For the Brother's fine effort we won a stereo and color T.V. The TKE's are well represented in campus organizations with three of our mem- bers on SBEB. On the varsity level, TKE's help comprise the lacrosse, soccer, and wrestling teams. We have also lead in the Battle Axe League all year with first place finishes in golf, pool, basketball, racketball, volleyball, and second place finishes in swimming, basketball, tennis, and handball. Tom Wall, our representative in the dance marathon, finished third, earning over S175 for the heart fund. We closed the year with our annual Red Carnation Ball which was attended by the Brothers, Alumni, and friends of Tau Kappa Epsilon. ! li.
