NINETEEN AND NINE MARIETTANA Preface ' f N casting this Mariettana upon the mercy of the public, we are,conscious of the fact that it is not exactly the kind of book we had hoped to get out. Some features are lacking, and some which are included are not just as we expected them to be. Were we ever to have charge of another College publication,-a thing from which may all the fates preserve us!- we trust we should know how to manage affairs, e and some persons -better. But peace, Muse! thy labor is over and done; it is now the part of the friends of Marietta College to purchase this book, which we trust they will Fmd of interest and value to them. We desire to thank all who have helped in any way to make the book a success. Particuiar thanks are due to the Faculty Censor, for his tireless efforts in our behalf.
