In addi- tion to stressing the importance of academics and extra-curricular activi- ties the new administration has equal- ly stressed the essential ingredient of pride in all things. Many benefits have resulted from the change of adminis- tration. The improved areas of the school and the new look have raised the spirits of those involved with Mar- ianhill. Fr. Jalbert and Sr, Muriel have put many hours into the refurbishing of the school. The money that has been poured into Marianhill has been used wisely. The cafeteria was completely renovated. The walls were done over and silhouettes were painted on them: the silhouettes indicate our spiritual, academic and athletic pro- grams. New lockers were installed for the junior high students and electron- ic typewriters are at the fingertips of all the typing students. More important than the physical appearance of Marianhill is the atmo- sphere. The students are proud of the things they accomplish and they see more and more students getting in- volved in extracurricular activities. We hope to increase the enrollment and we are well on our way. Looking back on the past year and the school's academic and physical changes, we see how Marianhill is growing with A TOUCH OF CLASS. Miss Linda Bartolomei Mrs. Dara Brian Philosophy Pope John Paul ll stated that Catholic education must make a contribution to the church and to society. It must educate young men and women who will be capable and willing to as- sume tasks in the service of the community and of society in general and to bear witness to their faith before the world. And finally, to be what it ought to be, a Catholic school must set up, among its faculty and students, a real community which bears witness to a living and operative christianity, a community whose sincere commitment is for development of the total in- dividual. lt is this goal to which Marianhill Junior-Senior High School is dedicated. We, the Senior class, have met that person here on the faculty at Marianhill. Mrs. Phyllis Lamontagne is that person. We are most grateful for all that has been done for us. Mrs. Lamontagne, or Mrs. L as she is affectionately known, came to Mar- ianhill when we were beginning our freshman year of high school. We be- gan one of the greatest challenges of our life: to attend all of Mrs. L's Eng- lish classes and to pass them. She, unselfishly, has given us more than we could ever return. Her dedication and perseverance reaches far deeper than just teaching us what is re- quired. And so, we have learned more than just Literature from her: we have learned how to give, how to be unself- ish, and how to sacrifice for the sake of others. We have learned that we can reach beyond the wildest expec- tations that we and others have placed on us. Mrs. Lamontagne has shown us how to surmount all obsta- cles. Mrs. L, thank you for being you and for all that you have done. We will always love you. 7 I 1 iff - ., - 4 fiaffb JE.. ra , A 4 Q f Q ,qdwwlllf 1-s-.......,-. 3' T211-,,,,..,L a --'S '-N... if 32152 'Uv up -... ,N M 1 - -.4 , A ' -a,..,,,mq ,f,.,. We will leave behind our high school years, but take with us the memories. Hey Big Guy The changes at Marianhill especial- ly in the area of discipline have brought more than order, they have brought respect and responsibility. The mutual respect of administration and faculty has fostered a common bond called trust. This trust has been shown in the giving of responsibility to each student. However, this new responsibility is not considered a bur- den rather it is looked upon as a privi- lege. The students seem happy and they seem to realize that caring and interest can go a long way. Things are definitely looking up at MHS in the athletic department. Three new sports, volleyball, golf, and tennis have been added to the much improved sports program. Also, there have been a few newcomers welcomed on our athletic faculty. Mr. Mayes, our athletic director, has done a super job in scheduling games, recruiting other players and obtaining new uniforms and equipment. Due to the rising interest and enthusiasm of the students, Marianhill is sure to see many winning seasons in the future. l , . On November 1, 1984, the team's final record stood at 4-11- 1. ln order to have achieved this feat, the soccer team possessed two traits, determination and perseverance, which challenged them to be the best team possible.
