Aside from a Halloween party for the faculty and the installation ceremonies in the spring, few formal projects were carried out. Individual members, however, demonstrated NHS characteristics of leadership and helpfulness by parti- cipating in the ASB and class commissions, tutoring, volunteer work, MUN and other projects. On the Whole NHS members were more concerned With the Welfare of the total school than the society itself.

While many experienced a drop in membership, other groups were formed to provide more opportunities for participation. The Social Action Group was founded to fufill a need for direct community service. Its main activities included bake sales to aid needy causes and Weekly visits to the '4Drop In Centerw Where girls gave individual attention to handicapped teen-agers. Girls interested in clerical work joined the Future Sec- retaries Association. These students listened to guest speakers and toured office buildings in the area.
