A second Pastor to many Mari- anites, Father Hevck is invaluable to students and facultv members both for his wide range of knowledge and his warm understanding of the prob- lems of young people. Bv his 'Kopen-door policv, Father invites all the students to visit his office at any time for a friendly chat or a serious discussion of their problems. During the course of the veal' he insures individual contact with every student through his religion classes, which progress from simple Catholic doctrine for freshmen and sopho- mores to more difficult theology for juniors and finally the senior level marriage course. Father, a graduate of Rice Insti- tute and the University of Toronto, is well-qualified to perform an im- portant service to upperclassmen- that of guiding them into the college or career suited to their abilities. and inspire Marianites SISTER MARY JOAN Coordinating the activities of five hundred students, together with guiding a twenty-member faculty, is an exacting round the clock occupa- tion. Yet Sister Mary Joan, while deftly discharging the details of her office, teaches the fundamentals of government to her senior students. Her debate team carries the knowl- edge attained in the classroom into the discussion forum where extempo- raneous thinking is a premium. Practicality is the keynote of Sis- teris classes in home economics, a course which is fundamental, ac- cording to Sister Mary joan, because the majority of girls will find their vocation in the married state. Sister also sponsors the National Honor Society. Q SISTER MARY IOAN Principal SISTER MARY CAMILLUS Since the School's opening in 1955, Sister Mary Camillus has typified the spirit of Marian to all visitors and students who have been re- ceived by her friendly manner. This year, having relinquished the ex- ternal duties of her office to Mrs. -I. D. Pickell in order to devote more time to the business affairs of the school and the convent, Sister is a welcome sight on her trips to Marian where she imparts her business like manner to her student typists. SISTER MARY CAMILLUS Registrar A high school, like any other or- ganization, cannot succeed without a highly-skilled team of administra- tors at the helm. At Marian this team is comprised of Sister Mary Ioan, principal, Reverend Eugene Heyck, C. S. B., guidance counselor, and Sister Mary Camillus, registrar. ll
