The basketball games provided a show of sportsmanship as well as good enter- tainment for Marian supporters. The Colts sparked the season with many exciting games that resulted in close scores. The team fought hard in all games and what they lacked in height and experience, the boys made up for with fight and spirit. Coached by Mr. Bill Golibart, the basketball boys demonstrated their training by fast dribbling and breath-taking long shots at the well attended games. Major competition for the team was between the Catholic high schools of Houston. The highlight of the season was the 19th annual Texas Catholic Interscholastic League basketball tournament at San Antonio. Nineteen teams competed in the meet which was divided into Classes A and B. Marian took an active part in this competitive meet and was able to qualify for the semifinals. 92
