Avidly, the students await forthcoming issues. Editors are constantly besieged by inquiries concerning the arrival of the next issue. Little is known about what work is required to produce a news- paper such as illarianrws. Countless after school hours are spent in reporting, preparing and copy-reading articles be- fore that eventful day when the paper goes to press, Staffed by members of the senior and junior classes, illaritlnfws' primary aim is to inculcate a spirit of Catholicity into every phase of writing, from an editorial to a sports article. lt maintains student interest by feature columns such as Buzzy's Buzzin's, which brings to light any humorous happenings in Marian. Recompense is made hundred-fold when grateful students heartily congratulate members of the staff for their fruitful efforts. But the real reward comes to those who realize the tremendous power of the Vatholic press. especially in the formation of good character in the students. It strengthened its line reputation as football fans listened to the music of the band and witnessed the routines performed by the majorettes during half-time activities. Each week another candle was lighted in commemoration of the 4,000 years preceding the birth of Christ. Christmas spirit penetrates Marian High School as carols echo throughout the halls, gaily decorated bulletin boards array festive classrooms, and the old custom of lighting a Christmas wreath reminds each student of the light about to enter our darkened world. This joyous season is climaxed by a beautiful representation of the Nativity along with the angelic voices of the Glee Club. The grandeur of Yuletide at Marian permeates the hearts of the students and succeeds in restoring Christ in Christmas. O come let us adore Him! Mary, Marian Mother Guide your children home. ln 1954, a year especially dedicated to Mary, Marian High School came into existence. We, the graduates of the class of '58, were then timorous, but enthusiastic Freshmen, embarking upon our high school career. During the past four years we have spanned an era most important in our development. We have grown up with our school, its struggles have been our struggles, its triumphs. our triumphs. Our hearts are imbued with the spirit of Marian: its purpose is clear in our minds. Now in 1958, the Centenary of Marys apparition at Lourdes. we come to the end of this eventful period. We beg of you, Marian Mother, to keep us as we were the day we were entrusted to your special care: animated, spirits undaunted, Mary-like always- till we reach our final home. f -4 I If I' v dl J. 9' new 'J Q ff z a-4-of 5 QC'-, EVER ONWARD THRCUGH LIFE E WE JGURNEY TOWARD MARY Ps' 1 ' - Qff.. .
