Ar' Under the guidance of Mother St. Xavier, seniors acquire a more mature under- standing of their religion and the need to restore all things in Christ. The Senior class of i957 carries with it the memories of a year filled with the all-important phases of seniorhood. Our business- minded seniors acquired new skill and proficiency in the Com- mercial department. The academic students have forged ahead in their respective fields of chemistry, mathematics and the lan- guages. The entire graduating class is encompassed by a well grounded knowledge of our faith and its religious principles. As Pope Pius XII recently counseled, truly has our education been an integrated one. It attains a two-told purpose, tirst, that of informing our students and maintaining interest in school events, second, providing a channel tor self- expression and the developing ot iournalistic talent. We dedicate our writing to Christ through Mary. Since an urgent plea rings out in the world today tor zealous and persevering Catholic writers, Marian journalists strive to wield the defensive and ottensive weapon of a press that is Catholic, loyal, and sincere. Surveying exchange yearbooks, they begin to draw up plans, discuss possible themes and unique ideas. The Marian THE MARlAN is a bond joining students, alumni, and faculty members. As time passes this union grows stronger, more influential, and more radiant in its literary power. Memories of the cherished classrooms, various activities, and valuable friendships of high school continue to remain with us in THE MARIAN. Ouhr versatile editor, Clem Plocinik, has displayed his talents not only as school photographer for the Marianews and THE MARIAN, but also by his ioumalistic- contributions to both school publications. Music restores Christ in the hearts of men Praise to Christ rises from the gifted throats of the students enrolled under the banner of His Mother, whether caroling at Christmastime or highlighting the senior play with their lilting tunes. A harmony of hearts renders a crescenclo of chorols as Marian's Glee Club voices a beautiful accompaniment to graduation exercises. The male contingent, the Freshmen boys, adds a rich volume to the choral selec- tions with their deep melodious voices. Our Catholic Faith should be the dominant factor in every aspect of our lives, it must be the chief influence in our mental attitude. Wherever we go, whatever we do, we should always reflect the good' results of our Catholic train- ing. To know the way, To show the way, and to go the way are the essentials of good Christian leadership. . rin' :,f L.. mg? ll 3 1 , ' x X l WM 1 i 4 9 lll i l ' V l . a 1 i Qt 4 l l ls ' the termination of our training Graduation day is not the end, but the begin- ning of a new lite, one ot greater charity, peace, justice, and truth. In order to harvest this growth of virtue, we must be grounded in Catholic standards and ideals. We have received Christian training, not only in religion classes but in all our studies and . . . to know Him . . to love Him . . . to serve Him activities. Now that we know the way, we must show the way. We face the future with courage and determination, representing the truits of our Catholic education. We go forth as Apostles to teach all nations-to teach by the example of our daily Catholic living. Happily and yet regretfully, the Class of 1957 receive from Right Reverend Monsignor John E. Boyle, V.F., the coveted diploma of Marian Catholic High School. Parents and friends share the happiness and pride of the graduates. l .,4- A fi' By counseling us to accept with open minds and hearts the crosses and ioys of life, Father Siegele inspires us to restore all things in Christ. Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peuceg where there is hatred, let me sow love, etc. The valedictorian, Maryanne Matsick, bases her farewell address on St. Francis of Assisi's prayer. 5 l I ' 1 11 1 ,11 W 1- 1 P13 1- 4 .- i' A' .zl-.11. 55 5'if'f-11 ul 'iii 131 5 i'J'!
