When The weafher forced The sTudenTs To move in- doors, They Turned Their aTTenTions To bas- lcefball. lnframurals were played befween gym Teams and homeroom Teams. A TesT was given as a final proof of The girls' knowl- edge of The rules of baslcefball. Volleyball served as The sporf from midferm To The end of The year. Care was Talcen To see ThaT The girls undersfood The rules and obeyed The one-hiT sTipulaTion. To avoid monofony, The physical educa- Tion deparfmenf devofed some of The gym periods To calisfhenics, precision drill worlc, and a varieTy of skills pracficed on The rings and bars. A mafch of sTrengTh presenfed iT- self wiTh red rover where only The fasTesT and slipperiesf broke Through. The final evenf oT The year was The annual physical fifness Tesf Talcen by all sTudenTs. Home nursing class includes baby care l-lome nursing and confemporary home living courses are offered fo help sfudenfs prepare for a fufure life as mofhers and homemalcers in a complicafed sociefy. l-lome nursing, a compulsory course for iuniors, was fhe only course offered fhis year relafed fo healfh educafion. The course dealf wifh such subiecfs as baby-care, common illnesses, fheir sympfoms and freafmenf, and freaf- menf for minor iniuries. Also included in fhe course were fhe care and fherapy for fhe aged bofh physical and menfal. This course was very imporfanl' for all sfudenfs because of fhe necessary and vifal informafion if pro- vides for daily living. Confemporary home living was offered fo seniors only. lf dealf wifh such aspecfs of fhe home as color schemes, inferior decoraf- ing, fexfures. of maferials for cerfaln home ifems, and selecfing household furnifure. l-low fo arrange furnifure was considered fo some lengfh. Also included in fhe courses were lecfures on child developmenf and bud- gef managing.
