Senior biology students visit hospital lab Biology sfudenfs Kafhleen Byrne, Denise Egan, An- drea Kwiaflcowslci and Jurafe Lingis explore fhe body organs. To prepare sfudenfs for fhe fechnological world of foday, Maria offers five science courses. These are earfh science, biology, advanced biology, chemisfry, and physics. ln six rooms devofed exclusively fo science classes, girls invesfigafed fhe physical phe- nomenon of life, maffer, and energy. Earfh science is a course usually offered fo freshmen. They sfudied fhe geological his- fory of fhe earfh, fhe forces affecfing weafher and erosion, and fhe movemenfs of fhe planefs. Since fhey also learn basic lab- orafory fechnigues and ferminology, fhis science forms basis for all ofher courses. Biology l is required of fhe sophomores. Those who wish fo confinue sfudying biology can fake advanced biology in fheir senior year. Beginning wifh fhe origins of life, sfu- denfs soon advance fo cell fheory, planf life, genefics, and man. The seniors delve info re- :earch worlc, populafion analysis, and even experimenl' wifh newborn chiclcens.
