Junior year, a fullfillment of every students dream to become an upper classman, was no dis- appointment either. It was a gay year filled to capacity with activities, and also the Marian Year, a year dedicated to you, dear Mary. The years at Maria were filled with so much happiness that they flew by leaving only fleet- ing memories of joy. My senior year, so long awaited and yet so sadly dreaded, was much more wonderful than I even anticipated. My fondest memory is Ring Day, the day my classmates and I gathered to- gether in the Chapel to receive a ring that stands as a symbol of all my yearsof Catholic training and that I will always wear with pride and dig- nity, never allowing it to he tarnished by an ac- tion that will be unworthy of you and your Son. The rece tion of m diploma terminates my high school life. I will' go out into a world that can sometimes be cold and cruel. I will be ex- pected to act as an adult, buthow much at this time, do I feel notI like an adult but a very small, lost child who would love to run to you for pro- tection. Uncertainty fills my everyv thought. Am I choosing the right vocation? ill I make a suc- cess of my chosen field? Questions, dear Mary, that will onl be an- swered by time, time that our belove4f'Son de- sires to bestow on me. rough all my life I must remember this and be ready when your Son chooses to call me. I will be more susceptible to temptation away from the protecting arms of Maria and the guid- ance of the Sisters, but I must strengthen myself and follow you, dearest Mother, to an eternity of happiness with your Son. How thoughtful it was of our Lord to give you, his divine Mother, as a1 model and guide for ev- ery Catholic girl, you who alone were bom with- out original sin and were chosen above all wom- en to be the Mother of the Divine Savior. -With this knowledge in hand, I cannot help but step forth bravely and strive for a little of the per- fection that so predominantly ruled your life. My faith, the greatest of gifts that your Son has graciously bestowed on me, I am confident, will guide me through the temptations and diffi- culties of life and lead me straight to your lov- ing arms. I must also at this time remember my parents who first instilled the seed of faith in me as a small child and the Sisters and Priests who through the years nurtured this seed and let it blossom into full magnitude. Without them, this day would never have dawned for me, and my commencement, a be 'nning not an end, of a tre- mendous future, filleil with o portunities to help myself andm fellow mankind, to reach their eter- nal goal woulld never have been realized.
