Class History In September of 1945, we entered the Freshman Class, and we felt quite proud that we were now a part of Senior High School. On a certain dreaded Friday, 45 trembling Freshmen were initiated by the Seniors. The girls wore baggy dresses, high heels, unmatched knee socks, hair up on one side and down on the other, and makeup on one side of the face and not on the other. The boys had their shirts on backwards and inside out, pants rolled up to their knees and different colored socks. They wore makeup on their face and bandanas on their heads. They were not allowed to use the front stairs during this week, and whenever we met a Senior we had to bow and address him or her as Lord or Lady. If it were necessary for us to enter into their room, we had to remove our shoes and back into the room. The dread we had felt in advance of Initiation swiftly subsided after we realized that it was just in fun. We obeyed their rules and really enjoyed ourselves. As our group was divided in two sections, two sets of officers were chosen. Those elected in Miss Petrovits' room were: President, Gordon McMurray, Vice-President and Secretary, Dorissa VanBenschoten 3 Treasurer, Marjorie tWilliams 5 Homeroom representative, Tom Smith. The Freshmen under Mr. Brockelected the following officers: President, Dorothy Williams, Vice-President, Warren Todd, Secretary and Treasurer, Lynn Bruce, Homeroom representative, Shirley Eglinger. Lynn Bruce was elected Vice-President of the Student Association. Another term passed, and found us in the Sophomore homeroom. We now consisted of 30 members. Mr. Bishop and Miss Petrovits were our class advisors. Election for class officers resulted as follows: President, Peter Hill 3 Vice-President, Albert Trowbridge, Secretary, Dorothy Williamsg Treasurer, Emily McMumber. The homeroom representatives were Bob Peet and Bill Kavanaugh. When we returned, there were 27 members. We were supervised by Mrs. Soper and Miss Hamilton. We had our first high school dance November Z in the gym. Now, at last, we have reached the goal we have looked forward to for so long. We are Seniors. We are assigned to Mrs. Matalavage's room. The class has dwin- dled down. Our Senior Council consists of Peter Hill, Mary Stewart, Lynn Bruce, Dorothy Williams and William Kavanaugh. We have initiated the Freshmen, re- membering when we were in the same spot four years ago. To secure funds for our Senior Trip, we sponsored a very successful junior Prom, we hold bake sales, dances, a carnival, and hope to have a spaghetti supper and card parties. We have yet to look forward to our Senior essays, the Senior trip, and Class Night. On june 30 we will graduate. Although we will be leaving school, memories of all the fun we have had during our school years will always be with us. The 1949 Log
