Our Captain Speaks AROUND WASHINGTON VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL IN 181 DAYS I wish to congratulate the members of the Class of 1958 upon successfully reaching commencement and attaining high school diplomas and trade certificates as awards. As you ascended from the tenth to the twelfth grades, your view of the require- ments, demands, difficulties, pleasures, and satisfactions of the various trade, related, and academic courses became clearer and more appreciated by you. You have learned to acquire in varying degrees, the skills and personalities which are assets for success in the various trades. You placed a value on each of the 181 days of your senior school year as days during which definite goals should be attained. Your graduation may be considered by you as the end of a journey, but to the faculty your departure means the beginning of a far longer trip for you into trade employment made possible through educational advantages. We hope that your many days of future employment will be as fully appreciated by you as the 181 days of your senior year, and that each day will be productive for your employer, for you Cif self-employedb, and the industry in which'you participate. Here in the school we will be watching your progress with great interest and hope, and will be wishing for you speed and success in your trade endeavors. Mrs. D. I. Miller -9-
