Since then there have been many changes, although a few of us have f managed to come through together. . Our first years were spent in trying to grasp the fundamentals for a ' M fr, foundation to later life. All through the grades wc encountered many ups and Q 5 4 downs, including measles, mumps, whooping cough, and broken limbs. Becculaureato Sermon wus delivered by Rev. 0. S. Huffman at the Merengo Evangelical United Brothern Church, Sunday evening April 20. Class day was Monday afternoon, April 21, at Merengo High School. Commencement Exercises were at the Rialto Theatre, Tuesday evening, April 22. The annual Junior-Senior Banquet was held Friday night, April 11, 1947, at the Eastern Star Lodge Hall. The setting was Hawaiian. Soft Hawaiian music filled the air through most of the evening. The large yellow moon smiled happily on the group as a trio of Sophomores sang Honolulu Moon. The room was lighted by candles of the J'unior's and Seniors class colors. Robert Poe, vice-president of the Junior class was the toastmaster. A ceremony of the Lei was presented by Mary Tower and Betty Ruth Catt. The Lei was made of-red, white, purple and yellow carnations. ' Mr. Gottrried, our basketball coach favored us with a speech entitled 'Sunshine and Showers? A farewell song, Ohola Ge, was played by Miss Turner for the Seniors.
