S OU '5K 's-rw-v 'k SLNIUK LLAS5 WILL We, the members of the graduating class of 1957, being of horse sense and stable mind, do declare this to be our last will and high school testament, x 1 To Mr. Gottfried, we will all excess homework and used tests so that he won't have to worry about the class of next year doing their own work. To Mr. Hanger we will the gumption and stamina to work out the kinks and flaws of the freshman and eighth grade so as to have a good ball team for the years to come. To Miss Knight, who was always our favorite, we will the right to have a class that never whispers or snickers so she will not give up teaching and go back to farming. To Mr. and Mrs. Todd and Mr. Atkins, who never had our whole class to- gether, we will part of the headaches we caused so the other three teachers can get rid of part of theirs. To Mr. Nash, always a friend in times of distress, we will the annual room, and all the waste paper in it, to burn in the furnace next winter, so save money, of course. I, Jack Gates, will my ability to pass in all my subjects to Jim Mills, and my seat close to Bruce Pearson in study hall to anyone who will promise to use it as I have, for a good cause. I, Carl Linton, will my curly hair to Stuart Gottfried so that he won't have to get so many permanents, and my ability to go steady to Scott Miller. I, Ralph Stroud, will my height to Bob Richardson in hopes he will make better use of it on the basketball team than I did, and to my sister Carol, I will the ability to pass in Miss Knight's classes so she won't fail in Latin. I, Tom Wyman, will the ability to like school better than Idid to my sister, Jane, and the ability to go steady to Wayne Sloan. I, Bill Hawkins, will my place as Captain ofthe CAVEMEN to Bruce Pearson, and my ability to pass in classes to Jim Mills. I, William Agan, will my ability to get along with the teachers to Jim Curts, and all of my excess hair oil to Donnie Pierson. I, Jack Wyman, will my muscles to Jim Zahnd, and my knowledge of cars to Bruce Pearson in hopes he will use it to a better advantage than I have. I, Jim Pierson, will my ability to go steady to Alfred, and my ability to pass in my subjects to Richard Lockwood. I, Shelvia Bowman, will my crown to Imogene Grunden in hopes that she will be queen next year, and to Sylvia Line I will my glasses so that she can keep a closer watch on Donnie Pierson. I, Carol Wyman, will my slowness to Jane Batman, and my drivers license to Margaret Jones. I, Coletta House, will my excess weight to Margaret Jones, since she is so slim, and the remains of my typewriter to Donnie Hughes. ' I, Elva Smitley, will my ability to keep my mouth shut at least part of the time to Gabby Key, and my short legs to Jim Mills so he won't have to have so much room when he sits down. I, LaVerne Maddox, will my old beat-up typewriter to Linda Summers, and my wonderful knowledge of English to Betty Stewart. , I, Judy Grunden, will one of our gentle cows to my cousin, Imogene, so she won t have to go around with an almost broken arm, and my glasses to June Prather so she can see Charlie Baylor better when he comes home. UIJHDD ll IIJIJ I, Hazel Townley, will my height to Bobby Poindexter in hopes that he can make a hit with the tall girls, and my brown hair and eyes to my cousin, Della Sprinkle . I, Rachel Larimore, will my glasses to Liz Zahnd so she can keep close watch on Bobby Ross, and my slimness to Margaret Jones so she won't have to go on so many unsuccessful diets. I, Dorothy Walton, will my favorite phrase-I don't know-to anyone who promises not to overwork it. To these wills do we attach our signatures: 4 Ml! Q f Q f of Cv W If Q M WDW M Q! SQ? I thought that perhaps Imight see some of my friends of the Class of 1957 which had been twenty-five years ago. Before my performance on our big night, I decided to take a walk. Who should I see but Tom Wyman who was home for a visit with his parents. He and Jackie Little liked Jamaica so much that they decided to make their home on the island. They now own the largest fountain of Jamaica Ginger in the world. I learned also that Carol Wyman and Joe Edwards are married and live on a big ranch in Texas, They have five pink Cadillacs and three oil wells. Marengo has an Opera House now, so as I had acquired a ticket, I thought I might as well attend. Who do you think the main star was? Dorothy Walton, who had married a Wall-Street millionaire. They also had twelve children. After Dorothy's splendid performance, I wandered around town a bit. I came to a big building with a sign that said Jacks Hot Rod Shop and of course I knew that the owner was no one but Jack Wyman. I also learned that LaVerne Maddox, Rachel Larimore, and Hazel Townley had made their debut on television and are known as the Darling Sisters. That night during my performance, I looked out of my cage and guess who I saw? Shelvia Bowman and Jim Byrum with their ten boys sitting beside them. After the performance, they invited me to their house for a snack. We had bologna that came from Sonny Agan's Bologna factory and ice cream that came from the L and B Ice Cream Parlor. In case there is a question in your mind as to whom L and B are, it is Carl Linton and Darlene Baker. They had quite a fight as to whose initial is the bigger. Ralph Stroud joined the Air Force when he graduated. He now flies his own plane around. He has gotten three tickets for air speeding but that doesn't slow him down. He says he will take off for the moon any day now in his new freshly painted rocket ship whose name he has not decided upon yet, but is thinking of Pat as a possibility. I thought about giving up my career in the circus and going with him but I ran into Jack Gates who invited me over to his house in Milltown to see his rare collection of purple rabbits with orange tails. I might add that he has made quite a nice profit for himself. Jim Pierson and Delores Green are now married and about to have their grand opening. You've heard of the Jay C. Stores? Well. Jim is starting a new chain of Jim C. Stores. They think they'l1 be pretty stiff competition since their store is going to have all the modern in- ventions. As you near his famous store you will find that you just have to go in. Of course, you have no other choice, since Jim has a moving sidewalk that side tracks right in his front door. Billy Hawkins took over his Dad's job as cashier of the lylarengo State Bank, but Billy has come upastep. He now owns the bank in which he furnishes all the money and makes loans to anyone who needs it. Elva Smitley and her husband still live in their little trailer, but are going to have to buy a larger one pretty soon, since their family has increased four times since I left. PIHIPHECY T Coletta House became an airline hostess and was lost over Africa when she forgot to shut the door. There has been news of an African tribe called the Keetseys, who have been causing quite a commotion these last few years. Could this be news of Co1etta's whereabouts? Judy Grunden is the manager of Marengo's famous trio, The Darling Sisters, who are now starring in a Broadway Musical called Four Stones On The Path. As I visited with Mr. Gottfried, Miss Knight, and Mr. Hanger, l could see that they were still in a daze because of the success of this group. I was sad at the thought of leaving but decided to come again in the near future. Class History The purpose of this history is to record the memorable events of our school yearsg to remind us of our class companions and teachers, and to help us recall the fun of the past four years.
