PHQPMDEEH It was a cold, dismal night in Januaryg three old maids were sitting in front of the fireplace, watching the crackling fire, smoking corn-cob pipes, and talking of the many things that happened at good old M. H. S. Somehow the topic of conversation settled itself on Charles Wyman and all of those domineering girls of the class of '50. Charles Wyman, who was always so bold and fearless at school and who was so accustomed to having girls around, could not face the empty future with only one wife. He went to Arabia and acquired a harem. After spending a few years there, he grew tired of so many women, and returned to Marengo. Here he built a shack on top of the Quarry Hill wherele spent the rest of his life writing 'Advice to the Love-Lorn' columns for the Clarion. As for the girls ------- Jackie Ruth Jones' one ambition in life was to become Mrs. Russell Bull- ington, but this had its,eompl1cat1ons as Jackie and Russell were always quarrellng. Even when they were in a good humor, they could not go any- where together because Jackie had to work at the exchange. While Russell sat talking to Jack1e,he learned quite a bit about operating an exchange and decided that was what he wanted to do. But Jackie, tired of this work, did not agree with him. She wanted him to make the navy his career because he would look so cute in a sailor suit. Today they are happily married and Russell is a captain in the navyg but he has just two mo1'e years to serve, and when he comes home heis still going to be an exchange operator, he says! After graduating from M.H.S. in 'SO,Evelyn Harper went to I.U. to become a home economics teacher. She got side-tracked, however, and took up the study of law. She became first a prominent woman lawyer, then a repre- sentative, then a senator, then the governor of Indiana, and finally, by unamimous vote, the first woman President of the United States. As she was making a name for herself, her old flame,Huey Jackson, was maklng1mo- gress, too. He had become foreman at the Milltown Quarry. Since they had both reached the peak of their amb1tions,they decided to marry. They now have three sons-Dewey, Louie, and Huey,Jr., for whom Evelyn ls plan- ning a career in politics. Kathryn Scott, who was always so meek and timid, and because of her mild d1spos1tion,surprised everyone with her industrious character. She spent one whole year scraping the chewing gum off of the seats in the assembly and Room 10. She got enough to start a small gum factory and soon, when she was making enough money, she made a contract with Leo Agan for all of the gum that was under the seats in the confectionery. She became known as 'Queen1e', the queen of the chewing gum world, but her fame was short lived because the profit was all chewed up. Joyce Schmidt went to Colorado because of her hay fever. Since she liked the climate so well, she decided to stay indefinitely and to take nurses' training. when Robert Poe heard this, he dropped his college education at Shurtleff and went to Colorado. There he resumed his studies and be- came a famous doctor. After a few years they lost their 'patience' with their 'patients' and decided to marry and to raise their own. Lois Dean got her start at the Bijou in Broadway dancing in the chorus line. A talent scout in the audience spotted her, which was not hard to do, and starred her in a ballet. Because of her fine singing voice and her success in the ballet, she was contracted to sing at the Metropolitan Viola Clifton read a book on how to gain weight in twelve easy meals and now she weighs 300 pounds. Mr. Smith, who always said nobody loved a fat man, thought he might stand a chance with Violag but before he could pop the question she read the book,'How to Lose Weight and Still Eat' edited by Della Stewart, and he could not convince Viola that he was not fat, just pleasingly plump. ,,,.,.,,,,,,v,-l.--..v..-.. .... ...Q a..4,..g1.,,.- ......4.--...l.,.. 1 ., , ...1-v-,.,:,..- .-,.. - -,, p ,:::-1 I , W-in Y ifgwil-A...- V .gl-1 L ? career girl instead of a wife and she went to New York. Here she became a famous model. She had soo many offers to marry that she thought it would be foolish to stay slile. She has had eight husbands and seven ermine coats fone husband was rather poorl. Her last husband was a for- eign prince and when he died, Betty became ruler of his country. She likes this very much, especially since she gets her weight in diamonds every year. She is probably the only woman in the world who wants to get fat! Elizabeth Stroud, who did not want to be rich to marry Bill, get her wish. They have the and she is the president of about every club it might be said that everyone there tries to or famous, but just wanted nicest home in Piersontown in Piersontown. In fact, keep up with the Sprinkles They have five children named--Franceska, Archibald, Reginald, Percival, and Bill. Geneva Hutslar decided to have nothing whatever to do with men This system worked very well until she discovered oil under the front porch Then she got so many proposals she just could not decide which to accept She decided to think it over for a while but while she was doing so, her oil ran out and none of the men wanted to marry her She then decided that men were something she could do without so she lived in her mansion on the top of a steep hill She is one of the nicest old maids we know u J MNIMIL' H fi' ' ' Will' IW lllllllll III 'llllllllllll II T' I Axlla---A -----A-.--- .e-. ----- -------- --A' , lv, ,V allilgligr gg -qiv . ow Hreum :mme inn! awed noHnH 3 U mwhh 40 oompw or ogvbra mondnoao n mage 'WWNM we on-nr-xr-' mov-' on-'4eo' on-an-sz ss' r-1-v-and 1-uv, '14-f o 03m an r-moo.-r o 3 o musnmmm '11,-rob-I 'flxi 4 D 0 :rev-H-o:J'D'or-' tg' zrvsn- n-0 060 'INET 1, nsrwm nn4w ws vnnoomsmdo m Q NWVUI we emo: 0H0nos Q o wen 5 swam WN 02 nqdgg Hanggmco ggnzgogagm nga?
