U..--1.l.i The class attended a Nsadie Hawkins' Day' party at the gym, given by.the high school. The girls wore print dresses, aprons, bonnets, and veget- able corsages. The boys wore blue jeans, plaid shirts, over-shoes, and straw hats. They were also escorted to the party by their girl friends. Again the class visited the Evansville Zoo,which was just as interesting as it was the first time. In l9h8, they advanced to the rating of 'Jolly Juniorsn, and believe me, they lived their title. The 'Jolly Juniors' were: Mabel Jenkins, president: Jewell Wyman, Vice- president: Viola Clifton, secretary and treasurer: Betty Zehr,Lo1s Dean, ella Stewart,Leta Grunden,Geneva Hutslar, Kathryn Scott, Joyce Schmidt, Betty True, Ella Hamman, Silven Levell, Glenn Smallwood, Evelyn Harper, Jackie Ruth Jones, and Lester Huffman. The faculty consisted of: Mr. S. A. Beals, superintendent, and Mr. H.A. Gottfried, principal. Their teachers were: Mr. H. A. Gottfried, coach: Miss Amy Armand, shorthand, English, typing and sponsor: Mr. S.A. Beals, U. S. History: and Mr. Evertt Smith, business arithmetic and general business. Betty True returned to school during the junior year, after missing two months while in California. Lester Huffman moved to Orleans where he continued his education. Dean Crandall did not return for the junior year. Silven Levell, and Glenn Smallwood decided, after a few days, that fin- ishing school was not for them, and so the class bade them 'Good-luckn on their way. November 6, l9h8,was truly a day to remembert Their class rings arrived. Some preferred black onyx and some solid gold, but just the same, each thought their ring was the prettiest. During this year they attended a Christmas Party sponsored by the senior class. Also, they took donations from the merchants, decorated the town and distributed a treat for the Ukiddiesn. They worked very hard to give the seniors a reception. The setting was WA Southern Plantat1onn.The girls looked lovely in their formals and the boys were really dream bait. Everyone had a very enjoyable evening. Preceding the senior year, Jewell Wyman married Arthur Green and they have a darling little baby daughter, Peggy Lea. Betty Lou Zehr moved to Butlervllle during the summer and she is now a senior at North Vernon High School. In l9h9, the class now consisting of just fourteen members started their senior year. The nDign1fied Seniors' were: Della Elizabeth Stewart, president: Mabel Gail Jenkins, vice-president: Jackie Ruth Jones, secretary and treasurer: Viola Vivian Clifton, Leta Belle Grunden, Elizabeth Evelyn Stroud, Joyce Anne Schmidt, Betty Louise True,Lois Maxine Dean, Ella Elizabeth Hamman, Eaflyn Gsyle Harper, Kathryn Ellen Scott, and Charles Edmund Wyman, and neva ane Hutelar. Mr. H. A.Gottfried was superintendent and pr1nc1pal.Their teachers were: Miss Lela Robertson, English, music and art: Mrs. Orpah Garrison, ad- vanced home economics, and typing: Mr. E. E. Smith, coach: and Mr. H. A. Gottfried, civics and sponsor. The class of fourteen will remain seniors until April 25, 1950. vvw-v-v'vvvvY.v-..,,,.,-.,,-,,,,,,,,. , ,,,, 1vv-,-vv rf- 'Q Y ....
