CLASS HISTOR V A An ambitious class of 74 students entered Marengo Community High School in the fall of I948. At that time Mr. E. A. Anderson was Principal of the school. Designated as advisors were Mr. John Glover and Miss Earla McClure. Dave Fox was elected president of the class. To the remaining officers were elected Tom Kometani, vice-presidentg Larry Anthony, secretaryp and George Ballard, treasurer. After being duly initiated by the sophomores for the first two weeks of school, the class settled down to their new life in high school. At Homecoming they elected Gloria Foryes as their queen. The class entertained the school at two parties during the year, a Hobo Hop and dance with a floor show. Their second year the class elected Wesley Stieg, president: Christine Pearson, vice- presidentp Larry Anthony, secretaryg and Gloria Cates treasurer. Class advisors were Mr. Harry Galle and Miss Earla McClure Mr E C Nichols was the new principal and remained there thru the rest of the time the class was in hugh school Joan Darley and Sally Repp were chosen as Homecoming queens for the class and Sally Repp was elected Homecoming queen of the school At the sophomores' first party they Initiated the freshmen and the second party included dancing and a most unusual floor show The class now upperclassmen chose as officers Tom Kometam president Wesley Stueg vice president Alice Lusz secretary and Darlene Laseman treasurer For their Junior Homecoming Kung and Queen they selected Allison Pringle and Gerald Hyser Let Me Out of Here was the unusual comedy play presented by the class The play under the direction of Helen Staubln and John Gahala was a huge success Riley GrongeHall was the scene of the beautiful Junior Senior Prom sponsored by the class After a delicious banquet dancing was enloyed to the music of Lou Rene s Band Gloria Foryes was chosen Prom Queen When the class became seniors they elected John Henning president Robert Glertz vice president Alice Lusz secretary and Larry Anthony treasurer Class advisors were John Gahala and Helen Staublu At Homecoming Alice Lusz Betty Abraham and Irene Telschow were queen candidates while David Fox Jam Schaefer and Larry Anthony were king candidates LarryAnthony and Irene Telschow were chosen Homecoming kung and queen The class had the Vtmter Formal an the hugh school gym with Billy Lester furnishing the music The danc was entitled the Snowflake Frolnc ln the spring the class successfully puton a playwhuch was thoroughly enloyed by everyone Commencement exercises were held May 29 for the class of 52 an the school auditorium Class Motto Onward and Upward Class F lower 4 Class Colors X M, Blue and Gold Fofgef-Me-N0f ,agen ill! .vw TW nlllmu J all lllltl, t it f, '
