Class HlStOIy As lt has been the custom of each clas to 'nake known its hlstory we the class ol Z0 shall narrate our somewhat lntrlcate hlstory Although our hlstory may not be of much Interest to the pubhc nevertheless It has a rmg of happmess and the memories of good trmes for the Class of Z0 The class whlch entered M H S 1n I9l6 as Freshmen numbered forty eight 1-low we dreaded the thoughts of berng scrutlnlzed and rrdlculed by thc upper class men Nevertheless we took heart ln hand and thought of the days to come when we would be bemors Cheer for the Freshles for they wlll advance Our flrst class meetlng bept 25th was directed by Mr Gardner at whlch we selected our class colors purple and whrte Richard Countryman Presldent Mar garet Pringle becretary Abner Kelly Treasurer and Mlldred Goodrlch class reporter were chosen for our l'reshmen class officers Mr Dahlberg was chosen as our advrsor We worked dlhgently so that we could overcome the rrdxcule of the upper class men On anuary 25th oe Patterson lnVltCd us to hls home for a party which was a huge success As Mr C.-ardner had forbldden the hazing of the Freshmen we arrlved home safely much to the dlsmaj of our friends the upper classmen When we returned as Sophomores ou class had dwmdled to thlrty erght Our class offlcers chosen for this year were Margaret Prlngle Presldent unlor Kelly X'lCC Presrdent and Mildred Csoodrlch Secretary and Treasurer Mr Alexander was chosen as our advlsor lhls year contained many soclal events A weenle and marshmallow roast 1n Swagers wood a party at the home of Kenneth ohnstone a slelghrlde out to Leo bulhvan s whlch was greatly enjoyed ln spite of tlpplng over and bobs comlng off the runners Perhaps the oyster stew was the chnef cause for the enjoyment Later rn the year Ruth Dalby gave a party Everyone who attended reported a Good time especlally Alex who hadnt had anythrng to eat srnce noon and very httle then Two other parlles were given one at the home of Mary Grover the other 1n Svxagers a dull boy can be made to read All play and no work makes ack a dull boy tne subjects taken up this year were somewhat new to us The geometry class worked hard with theorems hypothenuses and angles whlle the Ancxent Hlstory Class learned of the old L.-reek Mythology lhe Botany class enjoyed a trlp to the wood early ln the bprmg with Miss l:.lberg hngllsh Correctlon week was found mterestmg as well as helpful to the hngllsh class whlle the Bookkeepers worked hard makmg thelr ac counts balance We certainly were a jolly bunch 1n our unlor year which must be acknowledged by the other classes Vlfe had lost ten of our members but four new ones had jomed us thus making an enrollment of twenty n1ne Our offlcers for this year were ohn Vvllson Presldent Abner Kelly Vxce PYCSldCHf Mary C-rover Secretary and Treas urer Our advisor was Mxss Holroyd Our partles were numerous The flrst was a weenle and marshmallow roast ln Swager s wood Adelbert Coon next entertalned the class A mock wedding was given wlth Ralph Carmack as the brlde Leo Sullivan and Ruth Dalby opened their homes to us On Feb l8th Grace Lowe enter tamed us lhe class wrll always remember her lnterest ln It though she was not a member of rt at that tlme lhe umor Prom on May Znd was the brg event of the year Weeks before It was glven the poor unlors attempted to learn a few new fangled steps under the dr ectlon of Professor Leo bulllvan The Prom was a real success for lt was well attended and everyone enjoyed rt Un May 23rd Frederlca Wllke entertained the class We had a good tlme ln splte of the fact that the Seniors made way wlth the strawberrles About this time ohn Wllson left school and Abner Kelly took hrs place as Presldent lhe next party was a plcnrc ln Swager s wood Miss Holroyd mvlted the class to her home rn Genoa on une 7th We shall never regret acceptmg the mvltatron lhe last party of the year une l4th the unrors very gracrously mvrted Continued on Page Sixty eight tr tw utx tx .
