IVIARQUETTES STFIIVE FOR PERFECTION The Marcus High School drill team, the Marquettes, have been a busy group this year, from try-outs back in Mayto football games in November to basketball games in January. The squad came at 8:00 every morning, Monday through Friday, during the summer to get ready for camp and the beginning of school, The Marquettes attended a Drill Team camp at S.M.U. over the summer. They came home with a Division 1 Superior trophy for their outstanding efforts. Later in the summer they held their own camp at Marcus for girls ages 6-13. Team members said they had fun helping the younger girls learn the dances. The 86 member team also performed at pep rallys, football games and basketball games. It takes total concentration from lieutenants, social of- ficers, and line members to have an excellent performance. Mrs. Nan Nowlin, the drill team's energetic director, did a great job not only teaching the Marquettes dances, but teaching them how to have a good outlook on life and how to be an important part of something.
