The boys' basketball team, under the guidance of a new coach, experienced a season of ups and downs Mr Rabey's basketballers enyo ed their most success during the middle of the season, a period in which tney won seven out of elght games The boys ended the season wlth a record of nine wlns and Elght losses, second only to Qu1mby's undefeated team Twenty boys, eight of whom were lettermen reported to Mr Rabey for basketball The boys opened the season against Quimby and Sutherland and were beaten in both games Following a loss to Merlden, the Eagles started thelr own wlnning streak They defeated wasnta, Remsen, and Cleg horn before they played Quimby again Although Marcus once led by SlX polnts 1U the game, their winning streak was halted They then beat Larra bee, Grand Meadow, and blegnorn to end the pre holiday season The hagles started the new year by walloping Pierson, but Jake Urefke, playmaker guard, suffered a sprained ankle in the game and was unable to play for three weeks The Eagles lost a close game to Crani Meadow, and in the Cherokee Valle Tournament erand Meadow rallied in the last quarter to defeat Marcus again After a loss to Meriden, the boys trounced Union Township ln tle f nal homm game of the season In the sectional tournament the hagles defeated Plerson in tr sem final game to end the season lhe varsit sqlad was composed of ten seniors, bxt an experienced squad can be expected next year lhe second team, made up onlv of rderclassmen, enjoyed a remarkably successful season and finished the year undefeated Ronnie Uorr was sele ted on t r vnerokee Valley All onference flrst team the past season, and J1m Krekow, Orlan hbert, and r r e uorr received honorable mention on f , onee Valley Tou nament selections I .I ' ' ' 1 i .5 .
