With the loss of five former players, the girls started their 1957 C8 season under Coach tharles Rabey At the first of the season the girls, not used to playing together, got off to a bad start As the season progressed, the playing of each game gave them more experience A striking example of this is the comparison of their two games with Meriden At the beginning of the season their old rivals, Merlden, proved their ability over Marcus by the over whelmlng score of 86 27 Later ln the season the girls surprlsed their fans by coming wlthin 2 po nts at half tlme of Meriden Even though Meriden won thls game it did prove to the Eaglettes that they had found the most lmportant factor needed in a game Co operatlon In the County Tournament at Cleghorn Marcus played up and coming hashta,with washta taking thls game took Marcus out of the tournament The last game of the season, Marcus lost to Un on by the score of 29 M7 Th s meant they really had to practice for the sectional The sectional at Aurelia saw Marcus playing Brooke Marcus went into this game not knowing much about Brooke However, they worked together and shared the victory with a score of hh 3h This meant their next victim would be Fairview Fairview, proved to be the better of the two and Marcus went down wlth a 28 to their M3 On Saturday evening, Marcus met Cleghorn Although losing twice to them, the girls went into the game with confidence As this was the girls' last game of the season they played even harder than they had before This fact was proven as the girls drew 29 fouls from Cleghorn The disheartening result was, though, that Marcus lost by 6 points The Marcus girls won 3 out of their lh scheduled games and l out oi the h tournament games With the exception of the two senior girls, Beverly Slmons and Blalne Juhl the team will return with more experlence behlnd them and a new conquerable season ahead of them 3 , an z u .
