E l0R CLASS PLAY Tlaloc Our director 'The eyes of Tlaloc , a mystery play in three acts, takes place in a house on the Rancho de los Alamitos near the Mexican border, in bouthern Arlzona As it starts out a storm, usual in the region, has already begun Amanda and Ezra Simpkins are caretakers on the Ranc o and for the most of whom are included Pudge Rogers, a sage brush taxi drlver, Professor Hallett, interested in archaeology Tommy Tinker, a prize fighter, Nancy nowe, John wayne's niece, Vlrginia Lee Byrd, Nancy's friend, Pat Gillis, a breezy Western girl, Nancy's friend, Nawa, an Indian, Salvador Del Santos, a Mexlcan gentleman, Pepita Del Santos, his sister, and John Wayne, the owner of the Rancho de los Alamltos It seems that Mr Wayne left the house the day before and had not yet returned Nancy, his niece, is very much upset about the matter and tries to persuade the Professor and Tommy to go and look for him In this region of the country the Indians believed in a go1 named Tlaloc and men from all over the country came out to try to find the god's hidden treasure As yet no one had found it and the Professor was st1ll trying, As the storm rages on Salvador and Pepita make their supposedly married to Mrs Wayne After much excitement, the lights suddenly go out and Pudge Rogers makes his appearance. He tells of his experience wlth t e bridge out and of a certain license plate he pried off of a car which had gone down into the river After careful examination, Bzra discovers that it belongs to the car which Mr Wayne drove As everyone tries to get out of the house to look for him, Nawa tells them that Mr Wayne will not come back and to ask Tlaloc where he is The next day it is still raining and everyone is really getting restless Toward night the girls are rather worried so they hurry off to bed Later on a scuffle ensues with the Professor and Mr Wayne over an important box. The cry of Tlaloc is heard and everyone within hearing distance comes to see what lS going on Suddenly Nancy disappears and the second act ends with everyone held in an unknown fear The beg1nning of the third act finds the people trying to discover where Nancy could possibly be and later on Pepita enters to flnd the Professor sitting quietly reading bhe had recognized him as the Mr Wayne who had married her in Mexico and then she goes up and tries to kill him The professor talks her out of it and they argue and as they struggle the weapon flies up and hits the mural of Tlaloc and a sliding panel reveals a oeautiful idol of Tlaloc all in Cold and preclous stones As the Proffessor tries to pick out the stones the idol crashes into him and together they fall into a pit Toward the end everyone solves the mystery and Nancy is once again happy, and this time it is with Tommy II entrances and surprise everyone by revealing that Pepita is
