History In the year Nineteen Hundred Forty-Seven, the Marcellus High School opened with great gloom. What had walked in the front door ? Only us, the new Freshmen. As the lowest form of animal life, we met and elected our officers: President - Bill Bent, Vice-President - Jim Hunt, Secretary - Joan Harris, Treasurer - Elwyn Shugars. Our two Student Council members were Floyd Hering and Aurieta Wright. We chose Mrs, Kirby as our Class Advisor, A few weeks later we all went through the torturous form of initiation and after that, everything settled down to normal? ? f? In our Sophomore year we came back, bent on revenge on the incoming Freshmen We hope we succeeded. We met and chose Mrs. Kirby our Advisor. We then proceeded to elect Gene Breseman - President, Jim Hunt - Vice-President, Gene Barber - Treasurer, Bill Lee - Secretary, Student Council Representatives - Bill Harris and Lula Belle Youngs The next year we were upperclassmen and had the Swelled Heads. It didn't last very long though when the Seniors came along. This year we elected Gene Breseman - second time President, Maurice MacCartny - Vice-President, Marian Griner - Secretary and Jim Hunt - Treasurer. The Student Council members were Jean Tank and Charles Phillips. This year we selected Miss Tait as our Advisor. Our activities were a Christmas dance with the Sophomores, a Banquet and Prom for the Seniors and our Junior Play, Judy Pulls the Curtain. At the end of the year the school voted and chose Gene Breseman, Bill Lee and Jean Tank to be the Student Council President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treas- urer, respectively. At last the big moment, we enter the school as Seniors. We met and chose Mr. Allen to be our Class Advisor. We then proceeded to invest the honor of President on Jim Hunt, Vice-President on Bill Lee, Secretary on Georgia Emig, and Treasurer on Elwyn Shugars. Marian Griner and Kenneth Artis were chosen our Student Council members. The Senior Class Play was Mistakes At The Blakes on December 8th, in spite of the impassable roads. The time we have looked forward to for so long is now near, and although we are very happy about the whole thing, it is so seemingly the end that we will need our memories to keep us. ' l3
