HBook report Miss Nevins, what's that? I forgot my pen Mr. Longenecker. This and much more beats constantly on the weary ears of our long suffering faculty. Their task is great and their reward is small But seriously, the faculty is the most important part of a school. Theirs is the great task of supplying the incentive and the will to learn, theirs is the guiding hand They share our griefs when we are little Freshmen. They come to our aid with problems of being a Sophomore. They see us through our Junior and Senior years right up to commence ment. They help us through the maze of credits and aid us in choosing the course of study from which we shall derive the most benefit. And there is always a member of the faculty who can give us interesting and useful information about a particular subject in which we may be especially interested. Our activities, fun and parties would be impossible without the able sponsorship of members of the faculty. These activities mean much extra time and work for them, but they realize that such functions are very important to high school students, So in spite of scoldings, doubts, difficulties, and exams, we say earnestly Thank You FACULTY Left to Rightg Mrs. Louise Twyma Mr. Longs-necker Mr. John Wild Mrs, Pauline Kirby Mr. William Timm Mrs. lyla Norton Miss Nancy Nevin Uheam Z I SEHIURS 'gp W .- gg- 3--. -. -.- ' : -1 il e -:sz-L: . -'van-4.--is -5 --- - ...- -'- - 'ag-,d rc: WM 3 - I MARTHA BAINBRIDGE Basketball ----........... -.1'2,3'4 Cheerleader -----.----.... -1,Z,3,4 Glee Club ---- - ..--...... 2,3,4 Quartet--- ----....... ----2 Ensemb1e--- -.----..... ---- Presi.dent--- -....... --..- SHIRLEY J. Nevins. 6 Senior Play When Mrs. Aldrich, the wealthy and irresponsible matron, QPat Martini took up a hobby. the rest of the family knew that their lives would have no peace while she was under its spell Nevertheless, it came as a shock to her daughter Ruth lRuth Brownj to find that she would be unable to see her fiance, Ben Allen, fRichard Wymanj when her mother took up spiritualism. For Mrs. Aldrich declared that Ruth must see spiritualists or no one. But Mrs. Aldrich's sister, Roberta, QShirley Haganj conspires with Ruth to bring Ben and his friend, Ed. Weston, QAIJE1-ed Burleighj out to the house disguised as Hindu spiritualists. The boys are a bit sur- prised on arrival to find that they are now The Great Ben Allah and '5Ed Notsew, but they finally consent to go through with the plan. All goes well until, due to the scepticism of Mrs. Aldrich's friend, Mrs. Van Schuler, llrene Kriegerb. Ben gives a demonstration of hypnotism. His subject is the butler, Hawkins, QTerry Quinnj who is in on the plot. The un- fortunate part of the occurrence is that Ben really has hypnotized Hawkins into thinking that he is a dog, and Ben is completely unable to remove the spell. In the meantime, the boys are talked into giving a seance, and while the conspirators are getting the materials ready, Ben accidentally put a spell on Dorothy, the maid lMartha Bainbridgel. Just as Ruth and her friends are about to abandon the scheme entirely, an old friend of Roberta's, Professor Randolph Rawlings, fJ'ohn Poulsenj enters the scene, He teaches psyghology and knows how to remove the spell on Hawkins and Dorothy. As soon as this is done, the seance is given. Mrs. Aldrich is so convinced by the show that she faints. In order to cure her of her mania, when she comes to, they all pretend that she is dead, This treatment is successful, and the play ends happily with Ben and Ruth, Ed and Helen, and Randy and Roberta engaged to be married, while Hawkins and Dorothy take the evening off to attend the cinema, and Mrs. Aldrich and Mrs. Van Schuler leave to attend an auction of antique bathtubs, 7 Class History Freshinenz That was our year to remember and the teachers year to regret. We started out the year a merry bunch of little angels with Miss Jeanette Lawhun as our advisor. Officers chosen for the year were President-Marian Willis, Vice- President-Jack Hunt, Secretary and Treasurer-Shirley Hagan. Student Council Representatives were Terry Quinn and Sue Morleg. Being Freshmen we didn't do much but keep the teachers busy. We had a few candy sales and gave a dance for the high school, which of course included us. On top of all this we had to be initiated and the Sophomores of that year did a good job too. As Sophomores we quieted down a little for our second year in high school with our class advisor, Mr. William Tirnm, who watched over things as the officers for the year were chosen. President-Martha Bainbridge, Vice-President-Bernadeen Swartz, Secretary and Treasurer-Annabelle Thornburgh. Student Council Representatives were Shirley Hagan and John Poulsen, We still thought ourselves pretty cocky so we initiated the Freshmen. We thought we did a good job too. Then came the Christmas Dance which we called Winter Wonderland . We had the help of the Juniors of that year. We had an orchestra and a real one at that. We thought that was doing good. We also had the traditional Santa Claus. Throughout the year we increased our treasury by having candy sales, coke sales and etc. Now we are Juniors . By this time we've learned to behave a little so we settle down to presenting a nice Christmas Dance with the help of the Sophomores. The dance was known as the Candlelight Ball with a big crowd in attendance. Our advisor for this year was Mr. William Timm. Officers chosen for the year were President-Richard Wyman, Vice-President-Terry Quinn, Secretary and Treasurer-Irene Krieger. We sent as representatives to the Student Council John Poulsen and Shirley Hagan. In March came the annual Junior Play which was The Bargain Bride which left a big crowd laughing until it hurt, Also through the year we had candy sales and coke sales which brought more money into our treasury. Then at the finish of our Junior year in May we presented the Seniors with a nice prom that was well attended. The prom brought out suits and ties for the boys and a fine display of colors in formals for the girls. It was called the Old Fashioned Garden . Following the prom was the banquet at which Seniors, Juniors, Faculty Members and Schoolboard Members had a nice dinner and heard speeches along with some funny remarks. Now we are real people. We are Seniors . We selected a new member of the faculty to be our class advisor, Mr.'Richard Longenecker, The class officers were chosen as usual. President-Terry Quinn, Vice-President-Verlyn Eisenhauer, and Secretary and Treasurer-Janet L. Stratton. Student Council Representatives were Lyle Mikel and Nancy L. Storey. The Seniors were chosen officers of the Student Council too. President, John Poulsen: Vice-President, Annabelle Thornburghg and Secretary and Treasurer, Irene Krieger, Our treasury was kind of slim after giving the prom and banquet of the last school year so we made a New Year's Resolution to put some money in it, We had several candy sales at school and coke sales at football and basketball games, Then came our cake-walk which turned out some good cakes. A medium crowd attended and we auctioned off the nice looking cakes and some entertainment to keep it interesting. We had a couple of dances, One of which was the Sweetheart Swing . We scheduled a Donkey basketball game for March. ln December we put on the annual Senior Play The Great Ben Allah , Our classmates in both the music and sports field did a good job this year and in the years previous. We're proud of them. For our last event this year we have made reservations to take a boat trip toNiagara Falls We are to leave on May 15, But really this is not our last act. We are leaving all the money in the treasury to the school. Then on May 24, 1950 will be the final day--GRADUATION! 8 .mH9HOEm GOEO 3 Mudd is M5 -UmOE BAWOUAW BAWOQW MVBEUQOU gan 0-Rim: WO UEMZ OHEEWUH MWEHIE UAH M2520 Bwmmwhm P03 wiwqmgm Wnsrhpp Dt WMA Us HBA? The Captain of the team was Gene Hartman, During the season the line up usually was like this: Gene Hartman, Kenneth Artis, Gene Bresman, Ray McConnell, Clarence Hartman, Richard Skidmore, Iinfi Hunt, Jerry Buckhold, and Richard Gyllstrom, Terry Quinn and John Poulsen were doing all right, until an accident, which caused them to discontinue playing. All the players named above and Bill Lee received letters this year, Some interesting facts are: Clarence Hartman made 14 touchdowns and Richard Skid- more made 9, The longest runs were made by Clarence Hartman at Mendon with 80 yards, and by Richard Skidmore at Tekonsha with 70 yards, 2.7 m-curve:--3 LEFT TO RIGHT: Carroll Jensen, Richard Scidmore, Richard Gylstrom, Wllliam Lee, Clarence Hartman, co-captain John Poulsen, Ray McConnell, co-captain Kenneth Artis, Gene Breseman, 5 O :f Q1 O :- :s E ,...
