TRIO The school trio was organized in April of 1948, under the direction of Mrs. Iyla Norton. It consists of three Senior girls: Joyce Jensen, soprano, Joan Gyllstrom, middle and Marilyn Brown, alto. The girls chose the name of Three Notes and a Key. The trio sings at banquets, clubs, churches, plays, school dances, etc. OCTETTE The Octette reorganizes each year. The members for the year of 1948-1949 are: Joan Waltz., Maybelle Reiff, Joyce Jensen, Doris Jean Weaver, Emagene Rose, Carolyn Poe, Marilyn Brown, and Joan Gyllstrom. The Octette has sung at banquets, church af- fairs, school dances, etc. It is under the direction of Mrs. Iyla Norton. GLEE CLUB The Glee Club reorganizes each year. This is just a girls' glee club this year be- cause the fellows do not seem too interested. The members are: Emagene Rose, Marian Willis, Patricia Barks, Annabelle Thornburgh, Martha Bainbridge, Janette Parmeter, Mary Rumsey, Doris Jean Weaver, Maybelle Reiff, Lois Griner, Shirley McNeal, Joyce Jensen, Shirley Hagan, Arlene Furtenbaugh, Helen Ivens, Ruth Ivens, Joan Gyllstrom, Marilyn Brown, Dorris Pyle, Viola Schoetzow, Beatrice Hibbard, Marjorie Hilliard, Helen Lempke, Frances Zaleski, Joan Harris, Joyce Cripps, Irene Krieger, Ruth Brown, Carolyn Poe, Genevieve Searer, June McNeal, Marie Westphal, Evelyn Westphal, Donna Eisenhauer, and Beverly Forney. The girls practice half an hour each week. They sing mostly for their own enjoyment. They also sing at some of the school dances. The Glee Club is under the able direction of Mrs. Iyla Norton. 19

ANNUAL STAFF After many hard weeks of trials and turmoil, the annual staff finally finished the most outstanding annual of its time, The '49er's. Only a few people volunteered for this obligation. Soon after the first meeting the following officers were chosen. Editor-in-Chief - - - Assistant Editor - - Business Manager - Circulation Manager ---- - - - Doris Jean Weaver Janette Parmeter Maybelle Reiff Frances Zaleski Sports Editor ---- Art Editor ----- Advis or ------- John Pletcher Jean Williams Miss Tait STUDENT COUNCIL The Student Council organized during the first meeting of the year on October 20, l948, with Joan Gyllstrom as President, Jerry Adams as Vice-President and Annabelle Thornburgh as Secretary and Treasurer. Mr. Timm was chosen as faculty advisor for the organization. The Student Council scheduled a program a month for the school year. Each class is responsible for a program during the year. Among some of the interesting features were films, a home-town talent program, and a lecturer on Russia. Among the various activities of the organizations, the Student Council sponsored several dances and made the basa and a new engraved plate for the honor roll plaque. Z1 7 mm ,
