CLASS HISTORY As Freshmen, first of all, we were initiated. During the year we had a class party and sponsored an Easter Dance. This year began the sports career of both our boy and girl enthusiasts. President, Maybelle Reiff, Vice-President, Jerry Adams, Secretary, Leo Schmidt: Treasurer, Merle Hass: Class Advisor, Mrs. Kirby, Representatives, Doris Jean Weaver and Donald Kirby. First on our calendar for this year was the initiation of the Freshmen. Our class was the first to invite the whole high school to the initiation dance. We joined the Juniors and went caroling and sponsored the Christmas Dance, The Sno-Ba1l. President, Frances Zaleskig Vice-President, June McNeal, Secretary, Doris Jean Weaver, Treasurer, Lynn Shoemaker, Class Advisor, Miss Mason, Representatives, Jerry Adarns and Ellen Weirich. As Juniors we were becoming more aware of the slimness of our treasury, so de- cided to sell cokes at the football, basketball and baseball games. Again with the help of the Sophomores, we sponsored a Christmas Dance, Winter Wonderland. We had an or- chestra for the Iirst time, and also a Santa Claus, which made our party complete. We also sponsored a Valentine Dance. In March we presented a play, The Late Mr. Ear1y, which was a big success. We departed from the regular tradition by having our banquet and Prom on separate nights. President, Jerry Adams, Vice-President, Leo Schrnidtg Secretary, Joan Gyllstromg Treasurer, Mary Rumseyg Class Advisor, Miss Elliot, Representatives, Joyce Jensen and Willard Robins on. As dignified Seniors, we started our last year in high school by presenting the play, The Big Surprise. Again this year we reserved the right to sell coke at the games. We sponsored a Donkey Basketball game and a Cake Walk. Reservations have been made for graduation cruise to Niagara Falls. San'imy Hippo-giraff-o-pine by Jean Willia.ms. Kenny is silently studying the book entitled The Evolution of the Horse, which is illustrated by Marge Hilliard. The Homemakers' Building shows a display of chic companion hats and bags created by Sally Bainbridge. Although Sally has a home and family of her own she still has time for hobbies. From the other end of the building comes the aroma of fruit soup, Joyce .Tensen's latest recipe for distinctive homemakers. The demonstra- tion in the next booth is conducted by Marilyn Brown. Her new henna rinse is the cause of all the new redheads in the nation. We notice a redhead who looks very fa.rni1iar. The guide says this woman is the commanding stock holder in ' 'Kirby Cleaners. Of course, it's Joan Gyllstrom. The Travelers' Building contains an exhibit of rare wild animals captured by the fearless wild game hunter, Bud Rimes. On the east wall are striking photographs of Mt. Vesuvius erupting and the Pacific Tidal Wave of last surruner. The photo- grapher is the famous Willard Robinson now in Russia for Life Magazine. For the Grand Stand performance the fair has imported the CBS commedian Lenny Lern, viz,. our former classmate, Leonard Lempke. As we arrive at our seats, he is interviewing the current favorite, Doris Jean Weaver, better known to her public as the Singing Siren of San Francisco. After her delightful nurnber, a tightrope artist whom we recognize as Carol Wright, goes through her death defying, no net, act. To close the show, the newest television star, Mary Rurnsey, awes the audience singing the old time hit that brought her fame, Oh, Johnny?
