Officers Nancy Driver, Secretary; Philip Thrall, President; Chris Wiles, Vice President; Tyrone King, Treas- urer; Mr. Richard Planer, Advisor. Under the guidance of Mr. Richard Planer, the Student Council this year has been one of the most active Councils in many years. Meeting regularly every two weeks, the Student Council has done its best to carry out its duties as the student governing body of the school. Besides carrying out its regular proiects like the an- nual Halloween Party and the many minor services per- formed for the school, we have taken on such extra duties as making daily announcements of activities to the students, handling the sale of tickets for basket- ball games, selling book covers, promoting greater school spirit and respect for the school, bringing music to the cafeteria during lunch time and initiating a more efficient control over all extracurricular activities within the school. The Council is a member of the New York State Asso- ciation of Student Councils. Each class in the Junior and Senior High School grade levels elects two repre- sentatives. Four officers are also elected with elections being carried out with the use of a standard voting machine. Many future proiects are in the planning stage. Among these are the possibility of constructing an outdoor scoreboard for football games and a compre- hensive study of the present Constitution and system of representation to insure that both are adequate for the student body. t , n mm; 11v 1, , fwaamy Kt 33 EDITORS FRONT ROW: Joyce Raffaele, Viia Ozols, Carolyn O'Hara, Kathy Coyne, Rose Ann Frost, Carol Mac- Allisfer, Mary Ann Wilcox. Chi Alpha Mu is an honorary organization for Junior and Senior girls. It was founded in 1944 to help these girls become socially charming and responsible, with weIl-rounded personalities. In order to be eligible, Junior girls must have a B average in the fall and a C average in the second semester. Its activities are to sell refreshments at home basketball games and to sponsor dances after these games. Also X.A.M. puts on a Sports Banquet for all of the athletes and cheerleaders. With the Leaders Club the girls also put on a semi-formal dance for members and guests. The faculty advisor for this organization is Miss Zora Coxe. x V x a , q Q w v, xx 2 ,2; gm 71A x12 q z? ,m zfy zid s r e m T a F e T m H F L $ $1 MWQ if x sv ?xy awkwmum $va 17x? $ x iawmmxwwvv 6:? $1. wvwxwx 157 32$ x 29, A sw 2 $21st 745 $w wa T? xx ?msx 3 , ,xmw mm x $ $ Kw V nxtv y $5.7: 4w : i4 .2. m: meh-a lam Harold Orlando, Will' id Lukins, James DeDeIl. This team improved a great deal before it was too late. They won one non-league game and lost another before swinging into Onondaga County AB league competition. In the first league game they were soundly beaten by Skaneateles 72 to 45. The second game the Mustangs won over JamesvilIe-DeWitt a come from behind effort by two points 62 to 60, and the third game was a 70 to 59 defeat by West Genesee. The team found its scoring punch and confidence in a 75 to 59 victory over Baldwinsville. After that they scored eight more victories without a defeat to tie Skaneateles for the AB league championship. In the county league playoffs Marcellus drew West Genesee as their opponent and won by a score of 63 to 60. In the final game of the AB playoffs the Mustangs won over Skaneateles by a score of 58 to 47. The final for the overall county playoff championship was played against Onondaga Central with our opponents overcoming the Mustangs by a score of 64 to 54. Team, like all Coach Lane's Teams, showed fine ball handling and hustle. They had a poor season solely because of a lack of height. The Junior Mus- Tangs iusf couldn'T overcome Their Taller opponents. However, They did give a fine performance in many of Their games, especially during Their victories over East Syracuse and North Syracuse. The Team showed fine Team play, as most of The scoring was divided among Three players. Joe Norman led The scoring with 82 points; Jerry Hunt and Dave Bush were in close pursuit with 77 and 72 points, respectively. Wrestling The M.C.S. wrestling team completed a very successful season this year, with an impressive 8-win-8-loss record. Losing only two league matches to Baldwinsville and West Genesee, the grapplers managed decisive victories against their agile competitors. Baldwinsville staged a surprising, yet hard-won victory while the W.G. Wildcats fought one of their toughest battles, winning four of the matches by a mere point. In the county tournament at West Genesee, 168-Ib. George Reagan took first-place honors with Tom Etter 198-11051 Dave Demaria UOO-lst, Bernie MacDonald 11304st, and Fred Hunt i183-Ibs.1 close behind as runners Up. The Mustangs main- tained third position in relation to county schools. The following week, Fred Hunt was downed in the finals of the Section 3 tournament only after receiving a bye and defeating three competitors. Bernie MacDonald pinned two of his opponents, but was finally pinned himself in the quarter finals by the champion-to-be. Tom Etter i98-1bs.1, Harry Lathrop i145-Ibs.1, and Pete Ilacqua iH.W.1 proved dark-horse candidates for their respective weight classes, winning one match apiece. Thus, Marcellus totaled 19 points, finishing 13th among some 38 CentraI-New York schools. This sum was much greater than last year's meager4 points. With several of the stronger boys returning next year, Coach Bill Skye is looking forward optimistically to a promising season. Let's support our team!
