Will I ever see home again? Hungry dirty and tired he huddled there while sweat ran from h1s face Then m a mmute every thing seemed too much Joe crawled out of his fox hole and began to run He d get out of this place Let hammer Suddenly mto the path about a hundred feet ahead of him Jumped a Chinese soldier' Fear seized Joe and he stopped short in h1s tracks He raised his carbine while his quivering finger wrapped around the trlg ger .Toe was frozen He couldn t shoot' The approaching enemy raised his knife and as it gllmmered in the stmllght on its down stroke Joe s heart stopped beatmg His whole body seemed to draw up in fear Cords in his hands tightened and the gum went off Stunned Joe looked at the dead foe Weak Joe fell on the ground trembling and bleeding a little from the knife scratch Tears filled his eyes He Joe Baker had killed.
