F ootba ll Game s MAR CELINE. 24 BROOKF IELD O Our f1r st conference game of the season was played agalnst the Brookfleld Bulldogs The Brookf1eld runmng and passmg attack became so corn pletely bogged down 1n the mud that they never once threatened the T1ger goal l1ne On the other hand the T1ger attack showed so much power and speed that they scored four touchdowns The game ended w1th the Tlgers downlng then' old r1vals Z4 0 The T1ger touchdowns were scored by Stephenson Redd and joe Pete R1eck MARCEILINE Z8 WENTWORTH 14 Our longest trlp of the season was to Lex1ngton where we played the Wentworth M1l1tary Academy Thls was the most excxtmg game of the season At the end of the f1rst half the score was hed 14 14 ln the second half the T1gers turned on the power and down ed the Cadets Z8 14 By w1nn1ng th1s game the T1gers t1ed Went worth for f1r st place 1n the conference T1ger touchdowns were scored by Engelhard Stephenson and-I P R1eck MARCELINE 7 BROOKFIELD 0 The heavens were releas1ng the1r fury when Marcehne and Brookf1eld met 1n the1r trad1t1onal clash for the VICJCOTY Bell peared that the f1r st half would end 1n a scoreless t1e when the T1 gers got then' break The f1r st quarter had been played 1n m1df1eld. Dur1ng the second quarter penalt1es and poor footlng had prevented scor1ng threats On the second down Red Holt got off what appear ed to be a poor k1Ck The ball went twenty-f1ve yards 1n the a1r then skldded through the mud for twenty more The over anxlous Brookheld safety leaped upon the ball wh1ch shot from beneath h1m and was promptly recovered by Penmck It was our ball flrst and ten on Br ookf1eld s twelve yard llne Down1ng crashed over tac kle for the score and extra po1nt Brookfleld s lone threat came 1n the last m1nutes of the fu' st half when Tooey fleet back streaked past the T1ger lme and secondary alrno st 1nto the clear The rest of the game Was a dogged scramble m the mud The joyour T1gers carr1ed the bell back home to dear old Marcel1ne H1gh School and placed lt 1n the trophy case The game ended 1n Marcehne s favor The T1ger touchdown was scored by Bob DOWn1ng 58 The offensive play for both teams bogged down in the mud. l- ootball Game s lvLAnL,n.1..LNE 4-O NIlL.A'NJ 0 The gold clad I1gers poul ed on the steam and went for a scormg spree agamst the clawless Wxldcats from M1lan The f1r st quarter was fought on even terms unt1l Engelhard broke the 1ce by grabbxng a M1lan pass and w1th a spurt of speed and the help of a couple of well tzmed blocks went 65 yards to score Turmng on the power Mar celzne tallxed f1ve trmes before the horn blew for the end of the game Durmng the last quarter Coach W1111amson substltuted freely to hold down the score Almost every player on the bench saw act1on The f1nal score of the game was 40 to O 1n the Trgers favor T1ger touchdowns were scored by Robert Tngelhard Red Holt j P Rleck Chuck Stephenson and Bob Downmg MARCELINE Z6 TRENTON 6 dogs Th1s was our thu-d and one of our most lmportant conference games The end of the f1rst half found the T1gers leadxng by a small score of 13 to 7 In the second half the T1gers became complete masters of the s1b.1at1on and added 13 po1nts to thexr score to make a grand total of 26 to 6 Thxs was the Bulldogs f1r st loss 1n 18 stramght games T1ger touchdowns were scored by Stephenson andj P R1eck CHILLICOTHE Z0 MAR CELINE 6 Our last home game of the season was played agamst the Ch11 hcothe Hornets In th1s game the T1gers turned 1D the1r worst per formance of the season The end of the f1rst half found the Hornets leadzng 7 to 6 But 1n the second half the Hornets turned on the power and crossed the T1 ers goal twlce to make a fmnal score of Z0 to 6 Th1s was our fn-st conference loss of the season The T1ger touchdown was scored byj P R1eCk 97 The Tigers again left home, this time 'oo play the Trenton Bull- . -4 u 4 .8-
