Throughout the years at M.H.S. numerous students, under the direction of our school librarian, Miss Elliott, have participated in the functions ot the Library Service Committee. Besides working before, after, or during their tree school time, many students are on vari- ous sub-committees, while others work on the annual book tair. Each member of the Library Service Committee earns points according to the number ot hours ot work put in yearly, these points leading to a Library Award. In order to receive such an award, one must have served two years on the committee and gained TOO points. Last year, tor the tirst time, the Com- mittee presented a sioo scholarship to an outstanding senior, a practice the school hopes to continue. The members on Miss Elliott's Committee, as well as every student in the school, has learned much trom her concerning library work, and her helpfulness is appreciated by all

Wasserman. Demonstrating the avid interest of Marblehead High students in chess, the Chess Club was formed this year even without an advisor at its outset. L. Ferguson, who agreed to sponsor the club, was surprised at the turnout at the first few meetings. Since then, President Michael Meo's string-pulling and Secretary Steve Blais' faithful computation of weekly standings have made it a lively and rewarding series of Tuesday afternoons.
