The fairly new subject ot German entered its third year ot existence in 1964 and so did the German Club. Jeanne Clark was elected President and Walter Lind Treasurer. A series of monthly meetings at different members' houses was capped at the end ofthe year with a dinner and presentation of an award to the outstand- ing German scholar. y Spanish Club

National Honor Society NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY 3 '2 V7 Qi 5 l.. High schools have always been eager and willing to shower outstand- ing athletes with trophies, awards, and honors, but only recently has the good student been recognized. Scholarship, however, although it is essential, is only one ot the qualities that the taculty recognizes in choos- ing the members ot the National Honor Society. Its members are those students who have shown integrity, who have contributed a great deal of their time and efforts to their class and to the school as a whole, and who have earned the respect of the student body. lts members, because ot this respect, are the student leaders, included this year are the Senior class pres- ident, editors trom all three school publications, the captains ot the toot- ball, baseball, and track teams, president ot the Student Council, and pres- ident ot the National Thespian Society. These members and the qualities for which they were chosen have made membership in the National Honor Society a goal, an achievement, and, above all, an honor.

The French Club, under the advisorship ot Miss Lacerda, strives to encourage in students not only enjoyment of the French language, but also an interest in the customs, history, and culture ot the French nation. At each monthly meeting, stu- dents speak only in French while participating in programs designed to be both educational and entertaining. In this way members broaden their interest in the subject while acquiring a valuable background tor their study ot the language. l l
