6 :de Before the crew of the Class of 59 left the shup we had shared for four years to become the masters of our own fortunes we took a moment to gaze back at the reflectuons un the harbor and see some of the happenungs of the past years We had few duffucultues becomung acclumated durung our furst year on board for we had already spent a year on shup when we were seventh graders We left to spend our eughth grade tourney as the furst aboard the new uunuor hugh traunung vessel and returned to the senuor hugh to begun our long four year voyage Our freshman year was merely a shake down cruuse for the three years to come whuch most of us spent completely at sea The followung year we began to organuze We elected our furst captaun Jum Samuluan and our other offucers Sue Sadoff furst mate Judy Duddy keeper of the log Larry Noyes purser and Judy Rabin recorder Punk and sulver were chosen as the shups colors and our motto became Seuze the Opportunity Our furst bug socual event was Sugar n Spuce The dance commuttee headed by Jum Samuluan transformed the gym unto a dreamland of uce cream and candy In Aprul durung our sprung leave we set asude one day to conduct our statuonery that wonderful years souourn we docked at Goldthwaute Beach and had a pucntc After a long summer ashore we returned to our shup and elected a new group of offucers Torn Frary became our new captaun Nancy Asher furst mate Prusculla Sawyer keeper of the log Doug Shafner purses We got rught underway wuth our candy druve whuch was very successful Eught of our crew were selected that year to become members of the National Honor Socuety These were Nancy Luchman Larry Levune Pete Mules Sue Warner Sue Sadoff Barb Kumball Nuna Pruncu and Jum Samuluan Barbara Kumball and Mereduth Bradley as an alternate were selected as the M H S representatuves to Gurls State whule Pete Mules Jum Samuluan and Joe Mc Kane as an alternate served as our representatuves to Boys State Our bug event of the year was Polynesuan Paradise the .lunuor Prom Pete Mules was the skupper of the prom commuttee and hus leadershup guuded a very competent commuttee to a completely successful and enuoyable evenung When the balmy breezes of summer began to be felt un June the crew celebrated the end of another exhausting voyage wuth a pucnuc at Cranes Beach and a huge party at a crew members house Our host Dave Keefe was later seen Ieavung for Europe 56 W . , K K I5 , . to recuperate Almost everyone settled down to another summer of loafsng except Marcsa Faney and Julse McKay who as A F S students spent thesr vacatsons sn West Germany and Turkey respectsvely Gazsng at the reflectsons of our sensor year we see that Joe McKane became Pressdent of the Student Councsl captasn of the football team and captasn of the baseball team Chuck Cslley co captasn of the basketball team Bob Jermyn and Jerry Ryan co captasns of the hockey team Sue Sadoff edstor of the Headlsght and Nancy Asher and Roger Cruff co edstors of the yearbook Joe Demb was elected pressdent of the band and Jsm Samslsan pressdent of the Thespsan Socsety Pat Bernard was elected captasn of the gsrls Red Team and Sandy Wood the cap tasn of the Black Team Our new offscers were Pete Msles captasn Pat Hurley fsrst mate Barb Ksmball keeper of the log and Doug Smsth purser Through the Amerscan Fseld Servsce two new members were added to our crew thss year Marstsna Teran came to us from Madrsol Spasn and Ssmon Wadlesgh from London England By some unfortunate csrcumstances Marstsna was forced to leave us However both she and Ssmon gave us many happy memorses and we hope that they benefsted as much by thesr vssst as we thesr hosts dsd The Sensor Play George Washsngton Slept Here was successfully run for two nsghts and brought a conssderable sum snto our treasury A new Hsstory Semsnar was started sn T959 The members were Nancy Lschman Sue Sadoff Nsna Prsncs Jsm Samslsan Dave Keefe Joe Demb Judy Whste Judy Duddy Barb Ksmball Julse McKay Ssmon Wadlesgh Meredsth Bradley Lousse Gardner and Dan Goodwsn Barb Ksmball won the DA R good cstszen award Arnse Katz as chasrman of the dance commsttee dsd a fsne sob preparsng for our sensor dance Sslver Bells Under the Ieadershsp of Judy Duddy the com msttee dsd an excellent sob wsth the decoratsons whsch snstslled a gay holsday mood sn everyone who attended The last two happy events whsch occurred were the Sensor Banquet and the Re ceptson Then came the sad Baccalaureate Servsce followed by Graduatson on June TO As our sourney together came to an end each one of us had a deep feelsng of sadness upon leavsng frsends and the school we had known for so long It was truly a tsme for reflectsons 57 , . . . .
