Dawn Brundza Pam Black Debbie Murdock CLASS PROPHECY 2001: A SPACE OD-YSSEY We take you now to the year 2001, when all the planets are inhabited by humans. When you first ar- rive at the welcoming station on Pluto, you will be given the keys to a rent-a-ship, which will be your passport to a spacy vacation. Your guide for the first day will be be Linda Coleman, chairman of the welcoming committee of Pluto. As you are riding along watching the stars you might be surprised to see Carol Tullgren who is slowly back-packing her way to Jupiter. The first stop on the agenda is the Chapman-Davison Moon Dust factory. Grace and Gartrelle discov- ered the pleasant smell and decided to mass produce it. The tour then takes you to the planet of Uranius, where Mike Koltunak is heard yelling, Extra, extra! Cheerleaders Put Away for Life! The frong page read - Villians Captured . The story tells how Cap- tains, Jay Gladwell and Mike Coolidge of the Stellar Police Force, recently arrested Lura Holding. Kim Abrams. Dawn Brundza and Tristi Spiering for allegedly stealing the rings from around Saturn. Holding was said to be the ring-leader . They were tried by his honor. Matt Kaczkowski of the Uranius Supreme Court, who, with assistance from top bondsman John Auth, decided that they should be sent away to the Continent of Atlantis, which incidentally was found a while back by Jim Mangold who happened to dive too deep. Now continuing your journey to Venus, you switch on your Meteor Mind Media, being just in time to catch the anti-meridian news, which reports that Mark Lee and Barbara Tanner have recently been busted for dealing in lost chords. A late flash! Peter Petche. universally known scientist, just lost his eighth patient due to an over bombardment of electrons from his nuclear reactor. This deadly machine was recently invented by that way-out spacey scientist, our own, Starr Schone. Now for the local news. Tom Bresson and Mike Whalton are once again famous. They just produced another smash hit, Gone With the Meteors , starring Chris Bluett and Dean Miller, with Lavina French in charge of make-up. To wrap up today's news, Michele Mark was the victim of a space ship collision, resulting in 4 broken ribs and a fractured leg. Last report finds her still saying, It’ll be alright . As you continue on your way to Venus, Linda presses a button and out pops Loreli Felix, the singing barmaid; time for a little entertainment !!! When you arrive on the planet of Venus, you will be given a tour of it's major city, Venitia. If you happen to pick up a copy of the Cosmos Magazine, don't be surprised if you find Gary Holbert in the fold- out. The tour now takes you on a visit to a Venitian hospital's psychiatric ward where we find Jan Henderson in a switched role. She is now a patient instead of a doctor. If you walk on, you will come to a little glass window where you can see the mad scientist, David Layne, still trying to prove Mr. Orr wrong. It now grows dark, so you hop the block to Vicki and Beth's Space Burger stand to buy something to eat. All of a sudden you notice Bob Koehler, alias Peter Pan, flitting over the Moonshine Liquor store. Now that evening has overtaken you, it's time to zoom on to the Venus Country Club, owned and op- erated by Alan Saltmarsh. Here is found never-ending entertainment supplied by Becky Carrigan, Diane Lowe and Pam Black. The theme of tonights show is Nostalgia , with the girls wearing ancient 1972 fashions, such as mini-skirts and bell-bottoms. Greg Collazo and Robin Jones were in charge of the de- signs. 36 Sheila Moore serves as a waitress assuring everyone of having an enjoyable evening. After all of this excitement of your first day of the tour, you have retired to a motel with the intent to sleep until morning, only to be awakened around 3:00 A.M. by a big commotion taking place outside. You rush downstairs to find that Captian Mike Putoand his first mate, Janie Holmes, have just returned from a round trip cruise to earth. On board the space ship were moonmaids Gail Wohlers. Gail Kenson, and Mikki Windberg, who discovered during their visit that Mike Earl, Debbie Murdock and Carl Huff are now sole survivors and owners of the planet. By the time the excitement has calmed down, morning has come and the second day of your tour be- gins. Your guide today is Billy Legs Leonard. The first stop is the newly opened O'Ryan Rock Company, which is operated by Gary Barton, Richard Latham and Bob Barnett. This is where they package lunar rocks to sell to the tourists. The newly built Milky Way Mall has just opened. One of the leases was signed by Scott Cavanah, who is opening a shop for repairing Alpha Wave radios. His advertisement reads: Cavanah's Radio Repair - Serving the Universe for over 2,000 Years. Also Patty Waters plans to open a day school for tadpoles and kiddies, too. Fritz Majewski and Terri Miller have just re-opened their super-fuel station. One of the improvements that you should be pleasantly surprised to see, is Piper Goodman out there pumping super-fuel. While loading back onto your space ship, you notice a bright pink garbage ship zoom by. Legs explains that it was one of the ships owned by Robin and Kevin Woodland. Their Lunar Leftover Service spends most of it’s time picking up the discarded machinery from the extinct Apollo missions. Again switching on your Meteor Mind Media, you catch the tail end of the news. Word has been re- ceived that Ron Stiglitz, Larry Struyf, Brooks Jampole, and Bobby Paul have been awarded gold medal' in the 40th Olympiad for proving their outstanding skill in mastering the art of the once world-wide pastime of Hula-Hooping. As the tour nears it's end, you pass Gene Cavanaugh's used flying saucer lot. His top salesman L' now Bruce Fowler, famous for his special way with words. This tour is now at it’s original starting place. We hope you all enjoyed your small vacation. We now return you to your previously scheduled era. ACTIVITIES It is true, I never assisted the sun materially in its rising; but, doubt not, it was of the last importance only to be present at it. With the use of equipment and facil- ities, along with expert ad- vice , the Shoreline was able to add more pages to the book. This year we have 208 pages. With the help of men and equipment from Gaines Construction Co., Cameron Construction Co. and Charley Toppino and Sons, grass to re-sod the bare places on the football fields and baseball fields was brought in. With a little bit of luck and a lot of rain, both fields should be green for the upcoming seasons. The faculty, as you can see by these pictures, are not always behind their desks teaching. Most of the organizations chal- lenge them in many activities, such as volleyball, basketball, and football. The faculty usu- ally comes out on the winning end of the score when all the dust settles after the matches. 46 A new addition to the cuniculum now being taught is the Voca- tional Clerical Program. Here, students Jayne Jurgensohn, Con- nie Jones, and Debbie Fowler go over filing procedures with Mr. Cabrera, Vice-President at the Marathon Bank. Several Businesses joined in the program to give the girls on the job training in the clerical field. Mr. Paul Lenzi, an alumnus of Mara- thon High, talks to several classes about Player's Theater. Paul starred in The Imposter. Mr. Bud Wilkinson performs a Biology experiment in the new science facilities that were just officially put to use at the beginning of this school year. The new facilities also house the chemistry lab and the new band room. The Guid- ance offices and coordinators' offices are also housed here. Right after the football season, the Varsity Club inducted twelve new members. The club is composed of all athletes, male or female that have earned a letter in a varsity sport or activity. The induction ceremonies usually take place after the football season. With the addition of several new varsity sports to come on campus, the club is expected to grow in size and stature. These new sports will also allow other students to be able to par- ticipate in varsity activities. 47 Vicki Vanderkloot receives the V.F.W. Award for her essay of Freedom. She also placed 13th in the Southeast region. There were 16,000 entries. Dawn Brundza is crowned the 1972 Homecoming Queen in football by last years’ queen. Penny Bailey. Home- coming is now an annual event during football. 48 Dawn Brundza receives the D.A.R. Award from Mrs. Gradick. The award is given annually by the American Legion Auxiliary.
