The defensive team came onto the field to hold Ran- som outside their 40-y a r d line the entire game, but a defensive error caused the Ransom team to score their eight points. However, Ransom was not to be slighted and kept the Dolphins from moving the ball past the goal line, de- spite Marathon being Inside the five-yard line three times. An attempted field goal by the Dolphins also fell through which could have put the team on the score- board for the first time this year. Offensively. losing quarter- back Ron Styron moved the Dolphins 329 yards on the ground, and with only one completed pass in the game. Halfbacks J. Rahmes and Floyd Mason ran the most yardage for the Dolphins, with Mason highlighting a 40-yard return punt from Ransom. The Dolphins earned 12 first downs and gained some 40 yards with three punts. Jim Sikora, Dolphins head coach, commented on the game by saying, “It’s rough when you move the ball as many yards as we did and not get on the scoreboard.” The Dolphins will have a rough weekend this week when they will face Cardinal Mooney Cougars from Sara- sota. The Cougars will come to the Keys Friday and workout and then have a barbeque with the Dolphins that night. The game is scheduled at 8 p.m. on Saturday. The group, headed by Dr. Charles Council, professor of education at Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, includes both public and parochial school experts in the fields of language, administration, pupil services, migrant education, and physical education, as well as the general school subjects. The 16 committee members along with local school officials and the general public was treated to a shrimp dinner last night at MHS, but the committee got down to the serious business of rating the school yesterday. No worldly success Marathon High School has come a long way from its founding in 1957 to its present day status. A new wing has been added, a gymnasium was built, new shower facilities were implemented, and at last a new elementary school was built to house the already overpopulated Sue Moore Elementary School. With the new elementary school, the high school has acquired muchly needed rooms and space to house the junior high students and the Math and Vocational Departments. Marathon High School has attained a new awareness of its singularly unique ability to reach out for what is seemingly impossible, accreditation of its facilities - to reach out and to grasp its desire to excell as it encompasses and broadens our world of academic and social patterns. In keeping with the goal of Marathon High School, the theme of this yearbook is Love Story: Its purpose being to stress the emphasis we have placed on achieving our individual aspirations. They play Classical, contemporary as well as the modern hit tunes. Grades 7 through 12 attended the assembly. Reggie Washington receives his student of the month award from Principal Mrs. Katharine Gradick. The award is given each month to a student selected by the faculty, by the Rotary Club.
