Lzfe Under the Bzg Top As the circus tram pulled mto Marathon in the fall of 38 there was a group of chlldren watching It with eager eyes Among them we recognized the twenty four Marathon First Graders Our f1rst vxslt was spent feedmg peanuts to the elephants with Mxss Dress as the keep e Phylhs Buse from Laurens went wlth us the second year to see the monkey s den Thls year Miss Bohacek was our guxde On the thxrd v1s1t we ventured to see the llons wrth M1ss M1d1and as the tramer and we all enjoyed the act On our way to the Blg Top Norma Schott who had been attending Lmcoln Lee jomed us The clowns were funny and Mrss Krusenstjerna enjoyed them as much as we d1d The fzfth v1s1t was spent watchmg the flea circus but Mlss Johnson kept us at a safe distance The slxth stop was really fun we went to see the mxdgets Mlss Ploeger went w1th us and when we got home we all measured to see lf anyone had shrunk Eldon Mlller from Merxdan joined us thrs year Our .Tumor Hrgh trlps were even more ex crtlng for we attended the rest of the sxde shows Gerry Watts and Ardus Coppock from Prckeral Lake School Don and Donna Chrxstensen from Newell and Nlla Meyer from Albert C1ty went w1th us Mrs Anderson was our Seventh Grade chaperon and M1ss Ploeger our E1 hth The next four years were spent watchxng the mam show and preparmg for the star performances when we would take our places mn the mam feature Burdette Lane came from Ayrshire ln the Nlnth Grade to f1n1sh the remammng years wlth us Out of the twenty four begmners only three remamed wxth the show to complete the performance We have enjoyed the acts and stages from our twelve years under the Blg Top Last Wzll and Testament We the class of nlneteen hundred and fifty bemg of sound mmd and memory do make pubhsh and declare thxs our last w11l and testament ln manner and form as follows I Nlla Meyer do wlll and bequeath my becomlng blush to none other than Edna Wright.
