10 School Superintendent, Board A growing population in Marana school district was the biggest problem faced by the School Board, Superinten- dent. Bonds, that provided 57.1 million for expansion of the area schools, were voted down November 7 but were finally passed on December 5. Overcrowding was temporarily solved last year with the addition of Butterfield Elementary School. However, as more students enrolled, the bond issue was badly needed. Two new board members, George Leaming and Olive Barry, took seats on the board on January 9, 1979. They replaced president Max Green, who moved to Colorado, and clerk Dan Post, who lost his bid for re-election. l.
